File Mag-Net Overview
File Mag-Net is a powerful file search tool that filters all content from a web page and lists only the files that were used or referenced. It then lets the user download all the files at onces (like the newsgroups), which the web browsers don't support.

By user defined preferences File Mag-Net will also search just the current page, entire web site (default), only external links, or a combination of the above.

Keyword Search - File Mag-Net can also perform a search, much like a Find command on a web browser, but to an entire site. For example, one can search www.cnn.com for any reference of the word Clinton and a list with all the web pages will be produced. The user can then just double click on the listing and go directly to that page, or save it locally.

Common Problems
1) Please remember, File Mag-Net is not a stand alone web browser. Its actually not very productive without a browser. One of the most common mistakes a new user makes is to put in a web site in File Mag-Net without looking at it in a web browser. So when File Mag-Net does not list any files, the user feels it does not work.

2) If File Mag-Net does not seem to be responding and after a attempted search is immediately returning  a search completed message, this may be due to Internet Explorer being in Work Offline mode. To fix this, just open Internet Explorer, and under the File menu option, make sure the Work Offline is unchecked.

3) One problem not addressed in this version of File Mag-Net deals with web sites which automatically transfer the user to a second web site. File Mag-Net will not work properly in these sites. You can tell a web site is doing this when you type in a location and instead of a page downloading, a new location is presented to you.

4) If you enter a web site and File Mag-Net displays the message "Contacting ..." and in a minute just returns "Search Completed" without doing anything (this will happen for any location typed in), this is probably due to a mismatch of system files. Internet Explorer v3.0 or later will install the newest versions of all the required system files.
