The robust set of objects and interfaces available in the NetMeeting SDK will provide endless possibilities for developers to create their own custom applications for communication solutions. The following list provides just a few examples for using the SDK.
Customer Service from a Web page
Add Application Sharing Functionality
Add Audio/Video to an Application
Do you sell products on your Web site? Do you want to enable customers to interact directly with your employees through the Web? The Microsoft® NetMeeting™ SDK provides the tools and information you need to add such functionality to your Web pages. Once implemented, such functionality enables your customers to talk to, see, and share information with customer service representatives directly through your Web pages.
The Web Page Functionality tutorial describes some ways to set up a customer service offering or call center from a Web page.
You can make it even easier for users to share your application by adding a "Share Me" button to your application's toolbar. Clicking this button will launch NetMeeting and automatically share your application. You can implement this functionality with the NetMeeting UI hidden or visible, depending on your application's needs. Once in the application sharing conference, users can access other NetMeeting functionality as well.
By using the NetMeeting COM interfaces, you can add audio and video capabilities to your own communication and collaboration applications.
You can use the NetMeeting COM interfaces to create an application that enables students and teachers to work together in shared documents. The teacher and students can interact in the shared whiteboard, and students can use the chat feature to send questions to the teacher.
You can create your own conferencing-aware application designed to teach students about a specific subject, or you can have the teacher walk students through information in a shared application.
You can use NetMeeting's application sharing functionality to provide a more efficient and effective help desk for your employees. Employees experiencing computer problems will be able to share the appropriate application or system window with the help desk engineer. Instead of having to explain the problem, employees can show the engineer exactly what is wrong on their computers. The help desk engineer then has two options:
Routing calls to help desk engineers can be accomplished in one of two ways:
The Call Center tutorial provides helpful information on setting up a call center.
You can use the NetMeeting SDK to send data between players in a multiplayer game. For example, you can write a bridge program for NetMeeting users and then use NetMeeting's data channel to send information about each player's moves. Users of your application can use NetMeeting's chat program and audio features to communicate while playing the game.
