Introduction to Active Virus Shield Help

Welcome to Active Virus Shield. We hope that you will find the information in these Help files useful in protecting your computer against virus attacks.

Before getting started with the program, we recommend that you learn a little about the threats that your computer can be subjected to, how they penetrate your system, and what the consequences are.

To start working with the program, we recommend that you read through the information in the Getting Started section. It contains a description of the first steps you need to take to ensure the security of your computer.

Help text is accompanied with warnings, tips, and examples. We encourage you to read them thoroughly. Warning text is red, and tips and comments are green.

Active Virus Shield is simple to use. Every operation described here links directly to the corresponding action in the program. Click on the

button to open a separate window from where you can perform that operation.

You can search for Help information either by searching for keyword or the operation that you want to perform.

The Index tab contains a list of keywords that are indicative of the basic functions of the program and terms that users may have questions about. When you select the appropriate keyword, you will see a list of sections where you can read information on that keyword.

On the Search tab, you can enter a keyword in the search field and you will see a list of sections containing that word.

You can search by operation using Help contents, which have been organized such that you can find the answers to your questions quickly. To make searching easier, descriptions are broken down by components, tasks, and support services found in Active Virus Shield. For each component:

A description of the component, as well as an explanation of how the component works, is provided.

The various statuses are explained

Operational detail on how to pause the component, disable it, or enable it again, is specified.

Settings are described, and examples are provided.

Operation statistics are discussed.

For example, if you want to know how to pause a component, go to Pause / Disable; if you want to learn how to change the security level, browse the information under Selecting a security level section, etc.
