Options
General No. of item to save in history - Specifies number of directories/files to remember for future use in source, reference, output etc. combobox in the setup window. Save CSV file in Unicode format - If this is checked then .csv file is saved in Unicode format. Otherwise it is saved in Ansi format. This is by default turned off since some programs including Microsoft Excel do not correctly handle Unicode CSV files. Show results window - Uncheck this to skip the showing of Result Window after process is completed. Eject source when process is completed - If this is checked source drive is ejected when process is completed. Calculate total size before processing - If checked total size to be processed is calculated before processing. Based on total size additional information is provided about remaining time, estimated time and percentage of bytes processed. Skip process setup - This determines the default behaviour of the Button Panel buttons. See Main Window for more information. Add CDCheck to Windows Explorer context menus - This adds CDCheck to the menu when you right click on a file in Windows Explorer or any other software that uses system right click menus. Processing priority - You can select the priority in which processes hash, compare, check and recover run. Idle priority means CDCheck is using only the CPU power that is not needed by other applications. If selected you can usually work normally with other software while CDCheck is processing since most applications run in normal priority. However if if you are using background software like SETI@Home which uses spare CPU cycles you should not select idle! Highest priority is NOT recommended! Clean read min. size [kB] - Determines what is the minimum size of data read at once when calculating clean read transfer. All smaller reads are ignored. This is needed to eliminate influence of seek time on read time and provide better estimate of reading performance. Default hash directory - This specifies the default output directory for hash creation. It is used when suggesting names in Checking and Hash. If it is empty then name suggestion with default output directory is turned off. When processing .wav files ignore
Sounds can be set in "Control Panel"-"Sounds and Audio Devices"-"Sounds" as part of the Sound scheme.
There are two entries for CDCheck: Buffers Hash file device read size - Size of data to read at once from the device and initial size of buffer to hold that data when reading hash files. This can be lower than Device read size because hash files are smaller and read sequentially so there is no need for big buffer. Device read size - Size of data to read at once from the device. Usually larger buffer means faster reading. Circular buffer size - This is size of internal buffer that makes reading and calculating smoother and faster. You should be careful with higher values because during comparing twice this size is used (once for source and once for reference). This size must be higher than Device read size and should be at least twice the size of "Device read size". Recovery read size - This is size of buffer used during recovery. Memory used is "Min. no of sector rereads" X "Recovery read size". Therefore is should not be too large. Device accessAutodetect access is recommended setting. CDCheck will automatically determine type of access and settings.
If unchecked you have an option of manually selecting access type and also list supported types. If you have a resident antivirus protection installed that checks files for viruses when you are reading from a file than you do not need this!! Otherwise download appropriate plugin (if it exists) and select it. Information about your plugin is listed on the right. CDCheck ONLINE!CDCheck ONLINE! is a repository for CDCheck related things. Currently it holds a database
CD/DVD information and provides an option for personal users to obtain the free personal users CDCheck license.
To register as CDCheck ONLINE! user you should go to CDCheck homepage and look under Support section.
There you fill out a questionary and get a username and password which you should enter to the
apropriate field. THIS REGISTRATION IS SEPARATE FROM CDCHECK LICENSE PURCHASE (REGISTRATION)!! Other options should not need an explanation. Copyright (C) 2003-2006, Mitja Perko (CDCheck homepage) |
