You can reach this editor through the menu [Options / Edit document]. This option will be only available after a file has been recovered and is currently available for preview. This allows you to perform advanced editing actions before saving the file. This can be useful in special cases where a few cells may still be corrupt in the output file. The actions including: hard-cleaning, deleting and cropping, can be applied to a few cells, an individual sheet or the entire file. In most cases these option are not required. This is intended to give the user the option of applying manually some filtering functions when a special corruption persists in the file after the recovery. You can find additional information about cleaning a file manually in the topic recovery questions. The advanced editing actions that can be performed before saving the recovered file are the following: Hard cleaning Hard-clean is the process of converting the internal binary data of a cell formula to a text and then converting back from the text to the binary data again. This allows you to remove persistent corruptions in specific cells. In the process some elements as external links could be lost. The hard clean action cannot be undone. Once the operation has been applied if you want to go back to the previous version of the recovered file you will have to recover the damaged file again. You can apply this to an entire file, a selected sheet, or selected cells. Deleting This deletes the selected cells in the selected sheet. This action may be useful when you suspect a cell contains corrupt elements such as an incorrect formula. Once the file is saved into a new file you can recreate the problem cell in MS Excel. The deleting action cannot be undone. Once the operation has been applied if you want to go back to the previous version of the recovered file you will have to recover the damaged file again. Cropping This is identical to the deleting operation but the deleted area is the inverse of the selection. This means that all the cells in the selected sheet are deleted except for those which are selected. The cropping action cannot be undone. Once the operation has been applied if you want to go back to the previous version of the recovered file you will have to recover the damaged file again. |
