Operation
Optimal OCR requires a resolution between 300 and 400 dpi.
By default, Readiris issues a warning when youÆre submitting images with a resolution lower than 200 dpi or higher than 800 dpi.
Tip: Readiris detects the typical fax resolutions - 100 x 200 dpi (ônormal qualityö), 200 x 200 dpi (ôfine qualityö) and 200 x 400 dpi (ôsuperfine qualityö) - and ôpreprocessesö these images automatically to ensure optimal OCR results.
Tip: should you have any influence over your correspondents, ask them to send faxes with the ôfineö quality - those faxes have the higher resolution of 200 dpi and will yield better OCR results.
Enable this option when the images were produced by a digital camera!
Use this option to read images generated with a digital camera - where the resolution is unknown - and to open images where the file header contains an incorrect resolution.
Thanks to this option, the images will be processed ônormallyö, as if they had a 300 dpi resolution. (You also avoid a warning that youÆre submitting images with a resolution lower than 200 dpi or higher than 800 dpi.)
