Source Code CD-ROMs

GNU Source Code CDs include no compiled programs, so you will need a C compiler and some skills in order to run the software. We ship C compiler tools for some systems on the GNU Compiler Tools Binaries CD-ROM and the GNU Software for MS-Windows and MS-DOS. GNU packages that need another compiler or interpreter normally provide the C source for a bootstrapping program.

The current edition of the GNU Source is CD-ROM set #15 (August 2000). The 15th edition contents and manifest are posted here. Contents is an alphabetical list of package names and version numbers. Manifest (70K) is a long list of brief descriptions of each top-level text file and each program package. (This list is probably out-of-date, but it does have a handy description of most of the packages.)

All older editions are available at a discount while supplies last. Each includes contemporary versions of GNU software, X Windows, and Texinfo source for GNU manuals. Available older editions include:
