You don't need to be an expert computer user to use AxMan. That's because AxMan's most important feature is its simple, easy-to-use interface (However, if you are a more experienced user, then there are plenty of customizable settings and options!).

If you haven't installed AxMan yet, then now might be a good time. For information on how to install AxMan, please see the section on Installation and Deinstallation.

Here's how to quickly split and restore a file:

Splitting a file

  1. Start AxMan
  2. If you have not registered yet, then you will need to agree to the terms of the license.
  3. Push the "Add" button from the toolbar and select the file(s) that you wish to split.
  4. Enter the name that you wish AxMan to split the file out as into the edit box labelled "Select Target File Name").  AxMan will automatically add 2 extensions to the file name you specify when splitting it.  The first will be the piece number and the second will be the AxMan file extension (".axman").  Therefore, if you specify a target file name of "foo.zip" then you will find the split pieces named: "foo.zip.1.axman", "foo.zip.2.axman", ...
  5. Enter the location of where you want the split pieces to be written into the edit box labelled "Select destination directory". You can either manually type in the path, select the Browse button to browse for the directory, or use the default value.
  6. Push the "Split" button to start the split process.

It's that's simple! Of course there are many options to choose from.

Restoring a file

  1. Start AxMan
  2. If you have not registered yet, then you will need to agree to the terms of the license.
  3. Select the "Restore" tab.
  4. Either manually type in the full path (drive letter, path, and file name) of the file to restore into the edit box labelled "Select file to restore", or push the Browse button to browse for the file.
  5. Enter in the location of where you want the file restored (Drive letter and path) into the edit box labelled "Select destination directory". You can either manually type in the path, select the Browse button to browse for the location, or use the original location of the file which will be filled in automatically for you when you complete step 4! (NOTE: This feature may be turned off in the Advanced Restore Options).
  6. Enter in the name for the restored file or use automatically filled value (if the advanced option is turned on).
