Overview ArticlesUsing Features of the Microsoft Virtual Machine for JavaThe Microsoft® Virtual Machine for Java (Microsoft VM) allows code written in Java to access native code written for the Win32® platform. This includes support for ActiveX/JavaBeans integration, Microsoft® J/Direct™ technologies for calling dynamic-link libraries, and the lower-level support for the Raw Native Interface (RNI) and accessing COM interfaces directly. Also, the Microsoft VM supports Internationalization classes and special Java applet scripting capabilities. The following articles discuss these concepts and explain how to use them.
Microsoft Application Foundation Classes (AFC)The AFC class library provides cross-platform support for user-interface controls, graphics calls, and other features. These classes are written completely in Java. The following articles describe how to use the AFC packages and classes.
