Now that the image is in Picture Publisher, you need to decide what size to make it for your home page. It is important to keep the image small to reduce the amount of time it takes for someone to download the image file. At the same time, it is important that the image be large enough so the image retains its meaning. To size an image, click Size on the Image menu.
Since the home page deals with graphics in terms of pixels, not
inches, change the units to pixels in the Size dialog box. Type
in the desired size for the icon. When you have set the options,
click Size to size the image.
Note: Average Icon Size.An average size for icons ranges from 75x75 pixels to 150x150 pixels. Any larger size can cause delays on the average system when downloading.
Now that the image has the right dimensions, you can reduce the
colors to reduce the amount of memory it uses. Then save the image
file in the GIF format, which is an Internet-friendly file format
with transparent drop-out color and interlacing or delayed rendering
ability.
