If you are creating your own home page, chances are that you want to create the same attractive icon graphics you have seen on other home pages. You might have thought that it was difficult to create these icons, or that you need artistic ability to draw them. Fear not. You can scan in images or use clip art symbols to create the icons for your home page.
With the vast array of clip art symbols available today, you may want to use some of them to spice up your home pages. But clip art symbols are usually in vector-based formats, which are a series of line and curve equations, and HTML scripts require raster or bitmap formats, which are a set of points and color information.
Although Picture Publisher treats all files as bitmaps, you can use Picture Publisher to read in your clip art vector files and rasterize them. So, with Picture Publisher, you can expand the collection of images, graphics, and drawings available for you to put on your home page.
Below, we describe two ways to bring clip art symbols into Picture Publisher.
You can use Micrografx Media Manager to drag and drop a clip art symbol into Picture Publisher. To open Micrografx Media Manager, click ClipArt on the Tools menu. Now select the desired subject and drag and drop the clip art symbol over a new Picture Publisher image.
Picture Publisher automatically converts the symbol into a bitmap, so no other conversion is necessary.
You also can open the clip art symbol directly into Picture Publisher using the ImageBrowser. The ImageBrowser supports vector-based formats such as CDR, CGM, and DRW.
To open the ImageBrowser, click Open on the File menu. Select the file type from the file type list box, then select the image of choice and click Open. If the file you selected is a vector-based format, the dialog box illustrated below displays.
The Import options allow you to specify color or grayscale for the image or its resolution, and to specify whether the image is anti-aliased.
If the symbol is in a format that Picture Publisher cannot import, then you can take the clip art into Designer, and export it to a format that Picture Publisher can import, such as TIFF or BMP. Then you can use the ImageBrowser to load the image into Picture Publisher.
You also can add the symbol to Micrografx Media Manager so that it always
will be available.
