Follow these tips from to use Money most effectively. Once a year it's time to do some housekeeping:
- Clean up your file If you haven't paid very close attention throughout the year, look for items that are miscategorized, or entered with no category at all. Make sure you are being consistent in your use of categories. Modify your category list if you need to. While you're at it, check your payee list too. Make sure you're not entering transactions to the same payee using different spellings.
- Close any accounts you no longer use Your transactions will be saved in case you want to refer back to them, but the account won't appear in your account list, and the data won't be an active part of your file.
- Print or export tax reports If you stick to your routine throughout the year, you can print or export tax reports that make filling out your forms considerably easier.
