Remove shares from an investment account
Use the Remove Shares option only if you are giving shares away with no capital gain (The profit you get by selling a stock, bond, or mutual fund for more than you paid.) or loss, or you need to adjust your records to match your brokerage statement. If you are selling the investment, enter a sell, not a remove shares, transaction.
1 Go to the Account Register for the investment account in which you want to remove shares.
If you don't see the account you want, look for it under Other Open Accounts or Closed Accounts.
2 Click New in the transaction form below the register.
Shares you've removed from an investment account won't show up as a gain or loss in any investment reports.
