• Was born the 8th of October in New York.
• Her real name is Susan Alexandra Weaver. She changed her name to Sigourney when she was 14, after a character from the book The Great Gatsby.
• Her father is Sylvester "Pat" Weaver, ex-NBC president. Her mother is Hitchcock actress Elizabeth Inglis.
• Went to school in New York, including Stanford and Yale where she achieved a Master's Degree.
• Went to school together with Meryl Streep.
• Married Jim Simpson, her theatre director, in 1984. They have a daughter Charlotte together.
