Confmgr.htm: IP Multicast Conference Management Tool

This scripted HTML page enables you to configure standard and advanced options for multicast audio and video conferencing.

With ConfMgr, you can:

• Obtain a list of IP Multicast conferences published on a given ILS server.
• Create new IP Multicast conferences.
• Delete IP Multicast conferences
• Directly edit properties of existing conferences using the SDP Blob editor

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 includes support for multicast audio and video conferencing, and the Phone Dialer application that ships with Windows 2000 as a communications accessory with the operating system can serve as a multicast conferencing client. With Phone Dialer, users can create, delete, and join multicast conferences.

While the functionality exposed by Phone Dialer is sufficient for most small- to medium-sized conferences held on LANs, advanced users and network administrators may wish for more configuration options when establishing conferences. This multicast conference management tool exposes the following additional conference options:

• Selection of alternate audio and video codecs
• Specification of audio-only or video-only conferences
• Specification of receive-only conferences

Note that this tool was originally designed for internal test use only. Modifying configuration properties not discussed in this document could result in conferences that do not function properly with Microsoft applications.
