To add audio and video files to Media Library

To Do this
Add links to audio and video files on your computer or network On the File menu, point to Add to Media Library, and then click By Searching Computer. Complete the information in the dialog box, and then click Search.
Add tracks from a CD Insert a CD into the CD-ROM drive, click Copy from CD, and then click Copy Music.
Add an individual file, playlist, or folder On the File menu, point to Add to Media Library, and then click one of the following commands:
  • Add Folder. Find the folder you want to add.
  • Add File or Playlist. Find the file or playlist you want to add.
  • Add URL. Enter the URL to the file, including the file name.
Add a file or playlist while it is playing On the File menu, point to Add to Media Library, and then click one of the following commands:
  • Add Currently Playing Track
  • Add Currently Playing Playlist
Automatically add digital media files from folders that you want the Player to monitor On the File menu, point to Add to Media Library, and then click By Monitoring Folders. Click Add to select the folders you want to monitor.

The monitoring folder feature is only available on select versions of Windows and on drives formatted with NTFS. For more information, see Special features.

Automatically add files that you play on your computer, from the Internet, or removable media (but not CDs) On the Tools menu, click Options. On the Player tab, select the following check boxes:
  • Add items to Media Library when played
  • Include items from removable media

The next time you play a file, it is added to Media Library.

Add a file from My Computer Find the file in My Computer that you want to add, and then drag it to Media Library. If the Add items to Media Library when played check box is selected, you can also double-click the file to play it and it is automatically added.
Automatically add purchased music On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Media Library tab, and then select the Automatically add purchased music to my library check box.

The next time you purchase music on the Internet, it is added to Media Library.
