1. | Connect all MIDI hardware devices as described in the Connecting Serial and MIDI Port Devices. |
MIDI port A is the default port used by the Avid system. To change the port configuration, see Switching Between MIDI Connections on the USB-to- MIDI Converter (Windows) and Switching Between MIDI Connections on the USB-to-MIDI Converter (Macintosh). |
2. | Move the sliders on the fader controller, and confirm that the MIDI IN LED indicator on the USB-to-MIDI converter turns on and off appropriately. |
3. | Start the Avid editing application, and select Tools > Automation Gain. |
4. | Click the Automation Gain Tool Fast Menu button, and select Calibrate Hardware Sliders. |
– | At least one of the position indicator light is on (blue). |
– | The Recording Status Light changes to gold. |

6. | To disable the hardware calibration, click the Automation Gain Tool Fast Menu button, and select Calibrate Hardware Sliders. |
7. | Move the sliders on the external fader controller. |
