Understanding Monitor Options for Real-Time Effects Preview
Real-time playback capabilities are different depending on whether you have an Avid Mojo DNA connected to your system.
Monitor Options on a System with an Avid Mojo DNA Attached
Avid Mojo DNA allows you to do the following:
Play real-time effects on the Composer monitor.
Play real-time effects on a client monitor by attaching the client monitor to the Avid Mojo DNA.
View real-time effects while you perform a digital cut.
Depending on the capabilities of your system and the nature and complexity of the material you want to output, you might have to render some effects. Use the Expert Render command to determine which effects need to be rendered. You can also use the Video Effects Safe Mode button on the Digital Cut tool to check whether effects need to be rendered before you perform the digital cut. See "Recording a Digital Cut to Tape (Remote Mode)" or "Recording a Digital Cut to Tape (Local Mode)" in the HelpRecording a Digital Cut to Tape (Remote Mode) or Recording a Digital Cut to Tape (Local Mode).
Monitor Options on a System without an Avid Mojo DNA Attached
Use the Green Dot mode to play back video effects in real time in the following monitors:
The Composer monitor within the Avid editing application, while you are not outputting a DV signal. Depending on the complexity of your sequence, you might have to render some effects.
A client monitor, if the monitor receives its video signal directly from analog output hardware in your computer, as can be found on some graphics boards
For information on Green Dot mode, see Enabling Real-Time Effects on Software-only Models.
If you do not have an Avid Mojo DNA attached to your system, you must render all effects before you perform a digital cut. The Video Effects Safe Mode button is not available on software-only systems, but the system automatically warns you if you attempt to perform a digital cut with unrendered effects.
In order to view your sequence as you perform a digital cut, connect a monitor to the camera, deck, or transcoder.
For more information on client monitor options, see Playing Video to the Client Monitor.
