Webcam Mode
Webcam mode takes a picture at regular intervals and uploads the picture to a
website for display on a web page. Webcam mode is similar to timelapse
mode in that it takes snapshots at regular intervals. Webcam mode is
enabled through the time lapse functionality.
Setting up webcam mode
- Select the main window "Tools/Options" menu item
- Select the options window "webcam" tab
- Enter the username you use to upload html pages and images to your website
in the "FTP username" box.
- Enter the password in the "FTP password" box.
- Enter the location you want the image file placed in the "Target
URL" box.
- Enable/disable the "Delete local copy after upload?" checkbox.
- Click OK to return to the main window.
Starting the webcam
- Connect your camera to your PC using the cables supplied with your camera
- Start Camera Controller.
- If necessary set up webcam properties using the above procedure as a
guide.
- Click the main window timelapse
toolbar button.
- On the time lapse window, enter the webcam update interval you want in the
"Capture Interval (secs):" box.
- Enable the "Upload for WebCam?" check box.
- Click the "Start" button to start the webcam.
Stopping the webcam
- Click the main window timelapse toolbar button.
- On the time lapse window, click the "Cancel" button.
Notes about webcam mode:
- Webcam mode is NOT live/streaming video.
- Depending upon your particular application, update intervals in webcam
mode should not be less than 30-60 seconds. Shorter intervals will
result in extensive bandwidth usage on your communications link to the
internet/website.
- When using webcam mode with intervals less than 60 seconds you should
disable the "Include capture time in timelapse interval?" setting
on the options window's "General" tab. This will prevent
potential problems that may occur due to delays in capturing and uploading
