Browsing through local server

A website you might develop might only show up correctly when certain server features are available, e.g. cgi scripts, Server Side Includes or Frontpage extensions. Viewing such documents locally with directory and file names using drive letters does not work.

To preview such documents you might have a local httpd server installed. With 40tude HTML you can access the documents you are editing through a valid URL and allow the server to show documents correctly.

The server can be a server you simply installed for your own development purposes or it can be the actual webserver in case you have a network connection to its document root directory.

To use this feature you must specify where the server document root is located on your computer and which URL should be used to access files in the servers document directories. This is done on the HTML viewers page in the general settings.
