Beta 5 is here, I think this is last beta for version
4.50, 4.50 could be released early in 2000. What's new? Few bugfixes and long
awaited mass renaming per scheme! I hope you will like it, the scheme

It's unbelievable that beta 3 was uploaded almost
2 months ago. But I was not lazy at all in the meantime, there have been a lot
of work done. Download Beta
4 of version 4.50. The review of changes is included in zip file, it's
too long to list it here. Let me just highlight the commandline mode... it's
very usable, for example with
Universal Infrared Receiver. I just press the button on remote and always
new randomly selected music starts! I hope you will like this update, but don't
forget that this is only a beta - let me know your feelings and any bug found.
Unpleasant news is that I have no more access to my mirror at mp3manager.mute.cz...
the page exists but I am not able to update it.

of scanning engine with NT's and one stupid bug removed. Download

Beta 2 of version 4.50. Again just the exe available. I hope that all
bugs reported from beta 1 are away (let me know if "your" bug is still there).
Plus there are some new things in:
- CD Cache is active even if the CD is in, so the tracks from CD can be automatically
copied to temporary folder and played from HD (anybody wants to hear the disturbing
sounds from CD drive when playing music?)
- more files can be deleted at once. You can delete unwanted tracks from CD
Cache.
- added support for MP3 WAV's. Added stereo/mono label to media type info for
MP* and WMA (database reload is needed to display it). If I will get specifications
for VQF and AAC, I will add more support for them as well.
Subscribers of mailing list have been immediately mailed about beta 2. I would
like to take this opportunity to invite all not-yet-subscribed friends of MP3
Manager to the mailing list family. It will help us to be in touch - especially
in case of public beta testing, but not only.

Beta 1 of version 4.50 is done. I've decided to publish
this version as public beta this time... although I don't like public testing
very much, there are quite serious reasons why to do it just now: 1. quite new
scanning engine developed (it should solve problems from 4.40), 2. support for
other media files as VQF, WMA (I need specs for AAC!). I think that much wider
base of testers is needed. Please take this testing seriously, it will help
me and all of MP3 Manager's users in future. Download
here (just the exe, copy if over old mp3man32.exe - if you have not
the version 4.40 already, get it from download section first).

Again few notes:
- Due to some rare but bad problems in scanning engine I am rebuilding it,
it starts to look very good. Plus!!! I think I can promise that MP3 Manager
will support as well other media types like VQF, WMA. It will be necessary to
test it thoroughly, however. Please hold on:-)
- The html incompatibility of this page with some versions of Netscape browser
is solved, thanks to Saxtus.
- Winamp 2.50 is nice and free, but change of syntax in M3U caused an incompatibility
with Lyrics3 plugin. Thanks to Alon Gingold for quick modification of his plugin.
Be sure to get newest version!
- I've finally opened a Mailing List, if you are interested to get news about
MP3 Manager and version update announcements from time to time, subscribe for
this list for free. Link is on the left, under navigation menu.

Just few notes:
- I am (finally again after holiday) working on 4.41 - few bugs from 4.40 should
be corrected.
- International Lyrics Server works again for some lyrics... but in the way
which apparently should prevent from lyrics download (some automatically scrolling
Java applet is used, copying is impossible). I think this is not what we were
waiting for! I am disgusted.
- I've added new item to Links page - CD Tag is a very efficient software supporting
Lyrics3 Tag. Great!

Version 4.40 is here! New features as promised
(Sonique, updateable CD Cache) plus something in addition. Go to download section

- This is absolutely great: MP3 Manager got new mirror
with own subdomain! Many thanks to MUTE.CZ
(site is in Czech).
- I have a problem, however - if anybody with good knowledges of html knows
the solution already or can help to solve it, please let know the web
designer. And what's the problem? Netscape 4.0 - 4.5 does not display the
page! When connecting, the browser stops after few seconds and announces "Document:
Done". After pressing "Reload" few times, the page is finally displayed. It
seems to me like Netscape internal error, but I think there must be some trick...

About prepared version 4.4: Updateable tags in CD Cache
and support for Sonique instead of NAD are main things I am working on these
days. Because of lack of free time I will probably postpone programming of the
"smart playlist" wizard to next version. I hope I will have more free time during
summer:-). In every case expect 4.4 during next 2-3 weeks.

Minor update to version 4.31... two bugfixes and one
small new feature (cut path from filename in main track list possible). See Help

Although with small delay, I am here with new version
of MP3 Manager. I've changed my mind and did not release 4.22, instead I am
releasing version 4.3 - with bug corrections from 4.2, some small changes
and one new feature. Yes, only one, but quite important for all of you having
your mp3's spreaded through multiple CDs. It is now possible to select and
play tracks from multiple CDs at once without database update - MP3 Manager
4.3 will first copy all tracks to temporary folder and then start player.
For settings refer to Preferences/CD Cache. I feel that this is just the feature
which makes CD Cache to be complete as subsystem, almost one year after introducing
CD Cache in version 3.9.
... and yes, you've found it yourself - MP3 Manager has completely new
web page design. I hope you like it at least as I do. It is great to have
a good friend
with designing abilities!

but from now on I will keep both http://www.volweb.cz/str
and http://mpx.cz/mp3manager/
to avoid connectivity problems. I will try to update both mirrors simultaneously:-).
In every case... please bookmark both mirrors. Version 4.22 will be released
this week, it should solve few bugs and some small additions will be there
as well.. As well new homepage design is prepared... I hate this one.

Minor update to version 4.21... solving problems with
international characters, occasional memory problems and few other minor bugs.
Enjoy Easter with MP3 Manager:-). I will be out of town (and without computer)

It looks like I am able to keep a promise:-). MP3
Manager 32 version version 4.2 is here on time with lots of nice features.
Just before you will go to download section, you should know that this version
has been compiled in new Visual Foxpro version (VFP6.0)... and I had to create
full setup which keeps both executable and runtimes. Although I don't like
setups because they are big and slow, this is the only chance to successfuly
install MP3 Manager 32 with all latest additions. And now you can proceed
to the download page!

Hey, who can remember version 1.0 of MP3 Manager?
Probably only me and my wife :-). No wonder you can't, because on March 26
it will be exactly 2 years since version 1.0 has been released. Yes, MP3 Manager
will have second birthday! To celebrate the birthday, I am planning to release
version 4.2 and drink glass of wine :-) on March 26. Wish me luck to finish
this version on time!

Question to all users: Do you know how to get
average bitrate from mp3 coded as VBR (variable bitrate)? I would like to
add support for VBR to MP3 Manager, but if I want to calculate play time of
track, I need to know the average bitrate and it's not so easy... I found
that there is some additional header in VBR file where is the average bitrate
saved... but how??? Yes, I know that Winamp can determine the bitrate... but
Nullsoft probably does not want to share the info about it. At least nobody
answered my mail regarding VBR. Send me mail
if you have any idea, please.

Bad, bad, bad news for all of us who were downloading
lyrics from International
Lyrics Server. This server has been shut down by swiss police! I hope
they will win at the court - I can't see any legal reason why they shouldn't.
But for now on you should know that lyrics download function in MP3 Manager
is not working :-(

Minor update to version 4.12. Although I
am already preparing version 4.2, this update has been necessary for correct
lyrics download from www.lyrics.ch (change of link
to search engine). As well GIF support added to MP3 Manager. Go to MP3 Manager 32 section for download!
As well let me remind you of new version of Lyrics
plugin for Winamp + Lyrics Editor by Alon Gingold.
