City Celebrations - 11-13th June
This year we are celebrating the seventh year of the city celebration "Touch Pisek", which is traditionally held on the first weekend after the 8th of June. We will offer you three days full of cultural and social events. As in past years, Friday is the " Great day for kids". Palacke Orchards as well as the waterfront will once again play host to classic music concerts, brass bands, country, jazz, folk and rock into the late evening. A top attraction of this year's event will surely be the historic game called " Return of the Golem", which is full of music, light, smoke and pyrotechnic effects. On Saturday night you will be able to marvel at the fireworks -lights dancing over the sky, which this year will be accentuated and coloured by scenic music. The CR Championships in majorette groups will form part of this year's celebrations.

Pisek's Summer of Culture
This event, which is traditionally held in the Palacke Orchards, in the summer months in the Cultural Club Garden of the city of Pisek. This event plays regular host to choirs from primary schools and basic art schools in Pisek and Children's Home in Pisek. During the summer months, the program continues with Friday concerts of various music genres - with the presentation of folk, country and rock music.

Panning for gold on the Otava River- 7th year
The seventh panning for gold is organised for the 7th of August 1999 at Stare (old) Kestrany near Pisek. A traditional panning contest will be held, with the winner receiving a keg of beer, as well as kid's competitions, a rich and varied accompanying program and a country ball.

Razicky Prazec (sleeper)
This year on the 5th of June, the natural amphitheatre in Razice will be the site for the 15th year of this festival. Country and western bands, as well as Czech campsite music, folk music soloist will be on display. The repertoire of groups and soloists changes regularly. The participating bands are predominantly from the Southern Bohemian region, but the organisers do not rule out the participation of other bands and soloists. This festival hosts 15-50 bands and soloists

Tour Region Film
On the 1-2nd of June 1999, the Frani Sramka Theatre will play host to the 6th year of the festival of film and video footage related to the travel industry, called TOUR REGION FILM '99 in the category from 5 to 30 minutes. The most successful films will go into the international film festival, TOURFILM in Karlovy Vary. This year's festival will once again be livened up by the 3rd year of the festival called TOURPROPAG '99, which is the top nation-wide competition which judges city and regional advertising campaigns.

Folk and Country Festival "Touch Pisek '99"
The fifth year of this festival will be held on 19th of June. It will present the stars of our folk and country music scenes at Pisek's summer cinema (the whole bluegrass elite as well as international bands will also be on show).

Sramkuv Pisek
The 38th annual nation-wide meeting of amateur youth theatre, with the participation of international lecturers, students and theatre companies. The inspired ensembles will be nominated for our most prestigious exhibition called "Narodni zatva". This is a young avant-garde theatre, with all performances being free and open to the public. This year's exhibition will be held between the 28-30th May in the Frani Sramka Theatre.

Rock Pisek '99
The third year of this festival will be held during the days of 9-10th of July. This festival will present the cream of Czech rock music. As was the case in last year's festival, this year a foreign band has promised to appear on stage - a surprise is in stall!

International biannual festival of comics and caricatures, 1-28 September 1999
Already the third year that this festival has been held, Pisek will attract local and foreign caricaturists who, in spite of the hectic times that we live in, put a smile on our faces with their drawings and caricatures. Pisek is turning into a city of friendly gatherings, where the sound of laughter is the main sound one can hear. The best works will be on exhibit in the gallery of the Prachenske Museum, being accompanied by exhibits by the authors of last year's winning works.

AGRO-EKO-LES '99
6th year of forestry-gardening and ecological exhibition will be held on the17-19th of Juny in the Sports arena under the forestry school. This will present not only exhibits related to forestry operations, but also garden and ecologically directed programs.

Southern Bohemian Music Festival
This festival is in July and is held simultaneously in 13 Southern Bohemian regions. The concerts of domestic and international artists will take place in the St. Trinity concert hall and the Frani Sramka Theatre.
