Getting information about another computer

StickyNote allows you to get the profile of another computer and its user. For more information about a user's profile, please see "Setting your profile information."

To retrieve the profile of a remote machine, you must use the Ping command, available from the "Web" menu on the StickyNote main menu.

When you open the Ping dialog box, you will be prompted to type in the machine name identifying the machine for which you would like to retrieve the profile. This information can be an IP address, a DNS name, or a name in your address book.

When you click "OK," StickyNote will begin searching for the computer on the network or the Internet. If the machine is not running, this procedure may require some time. If you decide you would like to cancel your search, click the "Cancel" button.

If StickyNote finds the computer, it will display a dialog box with all the computer's information inside. You can see how long StickyNote has been idle on the remote machine, how many sticky notes are displayed, the user's name, and whether he is accepting notes or not. This information in total is considered to be the profile of the machine.
