What is Tweak FX

 

Tweak FX is one of the most powerful tools for changing different settings in Microsoft Windows operating system. In contrast to hundreds of so called 'tweaking programs', Tweak FX uses plugins, which can extend its possibilites to a significant extent. Up to now there are more than 50 different plugins deleloped and every plugin can modify approximately between 2 and 5 settings, so totally you can apply more than 150 different customizations. In addition to that, all plugins are simple HTML pages, so you can view and change them.

 

 

System Requirements & Related Info

 

Tweak FX is intended for the NT kernel based operating sytems (2000; XP; 2003; Longhorn), and all plugins are tested under in NT environment. However, I suppose that you can run Tweak FX under 98(SE) & Millenium Edition also, but keep in mind that some plugins may not work!

 

Requirements for running Tweak FX:

 

  • Visual Basic 6 Runtime Environment
  • Windows Scripting Host (5.6 recommended)
  • Internet Explorer 5.5 (6.0 recommended)
  • Installed and properly registered the following Active X components:

    FileSrch.ocx; INIControls.ocx; mscomctl.ocx; msscript.ocx; scrrun.dll; TABCTL32.OCX; shdocvw.dll

    Installation

     

    Installation instructions:

     

    Step 1

    After downloading Tweak FX, run the setup and install it into the directory you want (let's say 'C:\Program Files\Tweak FX').

    Step 2

    Go to this directory, start 'comset.exe' and click 'Register'.

    Step 3

    Now start Tweak FX by running 'tfx.exe'.

     

     

    Uninstallation

     

    Uninstallation instructions:

     

    Step 1

    Copy 'comset.exe' from the Tweak FX folder to '\Windows\System32' and register all.

    Step 2

    Now you can simply delete Tweak FX folder

     

     

    Installation Related Problems

     

    If you experience problems when running Tweak FX (or even cannot run it), read the following solutions

     

    Solutions for installation related problems:

     

  • Go to this directory you have installed Tweak FX, start 'comset.exe', SELECT ALL COMPONENTS and click 'Register'.
  • Copy 'comset.exe' from the Tweak FX folder to '\Windows\System32' and register all.
  • Download and install Windows Script 5.6:

    Known Issues

     

    Tweak FX has passed some serious tests. However occasionally some problems may occur. I've tried to explain some of them and to provide solutions for them.

     

  • Tweak FX may be detected by an antivirus software as a Win32/VBS virus. When you use it your antivirus program should be disabled or switched off. Tweak FX is completely harmless. No plugin may cause problems, because I am testing every plugin before including it into the package.
