En plumaje de reproducción el macho es rojo brillante con las alas y la cola negras. Las hembras y los machos fuera de la temporada de cría son verde oliváceo brillante, con las alas y la cola color negro. Tamaño: 18 cm.; peso: 28 g. Audio (M. Oberle). Anida en los bosques deciduos del este de América del Norte, invernando en los Andes septentrionales. En Puerto Rico, especie rara durante las migraciones en áreas costeras y bosques montanos (por ejemplo, un avistamiento en Maricao el 25 de octubre de 1998). TAXONOMÍA: PASSERIFORMES; THRAUPIDAE. |
