I also started working for McDonald's while a sophomore in high school. I was 15 yrs. old so I could only work 2 hrs. per day during the week while school was in session. This was my first job...I made $1.65 an hour in 1972..minimum wage at that time. I thourougly enjoyed my job and the people I worked with back then as I continue to do 24 years later. What an incredible opportunity to meet so many people, make so many friends and contacts. When you work for a company that long it's fun to see people as they get promoted and transfered to different parts of the US only to run into them at a convention etc...

At this time I am a Business Consultant working for the corporation. I worked "up" through the ranks from crew, swing, assistant mgr., store mgr., market trainer, area supervisor to my current position. The benefits have been great...from the insurance, profit sharing to the stock options and company car I receive. As with any job in any industry...you will get out of it what you put back in to it! Every job has it challenges, especially when you serve the public. This job has been equally rewarding to me as an individual providing for my family. The best thing that ever happened to me at McDonald's was meeting my wife! We were both working at the same store in 1972 at it was love at first sight!...OK back on the subject here...I realize that every situation is different because we are a people business. You take the bad with the good no doubt about it. After 24 years I have seen plenty of both, but I loved the job and the company I worked for so I stayed loyal to the company. I said all that to say...no matter the job or the career path you may choose you get what you put into it. McDonald's may not be for you so why can't those of you that were not happy just accept that fact, quit complaining about the greates fast food restaurant chain in the entire world...and get on with your lives!

Just a thought!
Good luck with your next job.
