I can't speak for every McDonald's store in the world. I am most
familiar with the McDonald's in my area. People must understand
that there are corporate McDonald's and franchise McDonald's which
have different policies. An example is that the corporate McDonald's
restaurants are smoke-free, some franchised stores have smoking sections
or designated smoking hours. As far as safety is concerned, all McDonald's stores in my area are
required to test the temperature of cooked product. This is done to
prevent any chance of food poisoning. Everything concerning food
safety must be documented. Failure to do so results in the immediate
dismissal of the manager responsible. Each restaurant is supplied with training videos which are accessible
to the crew. The videos show the correct procedure for any task. Also,
crew members are often checked on their stations to make sure
proper procedures are followed. As for hygene, no product which has been dropped may be served.
Employees must wash their hands before they start and after
sweeping, mopping or changing garbages. There is a disinfectant
hand gel available to employees to use throughout their shift. Also,
gloves are used for sanitary purposes when stocking up cones or
preparing fajitas.McDonald's is one of the few employers which guarantees wage reviews
every six months. There is a tremendous opportunity to advance for
those willing to work for it. The rewards of working for McDonald's
extend way beyond wages. The 18th birthday problem I've read about previously doesn't apply
here. McDonald's is an equal opportunity employer. Anyone has the
opportunity to work there. So, don't knock it! The experience gained is worth all the hard work!
