Unions' Future: Bleak

It was nice to read about how some of the strikers stabbed one of the UPS employees fulfilling their contractual obligations. Walking off the job is bad enough; Blocking trucks and stabbing workers is downright disgusting. I guess that realizing, "Hey, I'm not that important, anyone can drive a truck!" produces such a mindless fury in the neanderthal mind that the only reaction is rabid violence.

When I think about unions, there is only one thing which brings a smile to my face: They are in the midst of a serious decline, and their future doesn't look any better. What are the technologies of tomorrow? Software, biotech,information technology, all of which use high-skill, high-creative workers, and none of which have unions. Indeed, these industries have been shining examples of "Why Unions are Irrelevant".

I have a feeling what we are witnessing are the death throes of a diing institution. To this, I say "Good riddance!"
