Coke - Material gains and losses to ozone layer

Hello everybody...I studied materials science at university and learned about the amazing advances in technology which have been made available by using advanced materials e.g. self closing bins, using memory metal which prevent hundreds of forest fires per year in Australia.

However I have just heard of a new invention which promises to do much harm to the delicate balance of the atmosphere.

A new self-refrigerating drinks can has been developed. To cool your drink it releases gases which are 3,400 TIMES MORE DAMAGING THAN CARBON DIOXIDE TO THE OZONE LAYER.

Just think how many cans are sold by Coca-Cola alone, to appreciate the damage potential of this latest fad which panders to our disposable, package-obsessed society!! I think it stinks and this is just one reason why I have rejected scientific research in favour of more purposeful endeavours...I hope! Any comments, similar stories, support, criticisms welcomed...

Regard for a better world

Mark
