Our incisors simply are not up to the job. Also, we are incapable of
running fast enough to catch prey.
Our arms are weak and we certainly are not strong enough to bring down
a large deer, that could easily kill us with a firm kick of their hind
legs, if cornered. Our early efforts at hunting required considerable skill,
use of tools and group behavior to accomplish a kill. No doubt, before it
was done, a number of the members of the tribe were also killed in the
process. We became predators to try to capitalize on ôwhat was available.ö
We saw animals do it, so we figured we should try too. But that doesnÆt make
our physiology any more capable of digesting it in large quantities, like
REAL predators.
No, we are mainly vegetarians. We might have supplemented our vegetable diet with small amounts of meat found on the planes, including insects and
an occasional animal we were quick enough to capture and kill. But we are not designed to be real predators, who are much better endowed by nature than us for catching and processing animals.
There is no doubt that over the millenia we have developed a taste for meat.
But that doesn't make it good for us, or our G.I. tracts any more capable of processing it safely.
We need only look at our increasing wastelines and elevated cholesterols for proof, as well as various cancers and degenerative diseases. Meat has lots of fat and other bad things in it for us. It is just not good for humans.
