Synonymous Proverbs
We know that a synonym is used in
reference to two words which have basically
the same meaning. A synonymous proverb then
is one in which both lines express
essentially the same thing, but are expressed
in a slightly different manner.
Examples of Synonymous Proverbs
"When a wicked man dieth, his
expectation shall perish: and the hope of
unjust men perisheth" (Proverbs 11:7).
"In the way of righteousness is life;
and in the pathway thereof there is no death"
(Proverbs 12:28).
"The evil bow before the good; and the
wicked at the gates of the righteous"
(Proverbs 14:19).
"A man hath joy by the answer of his
mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how
good is it! (Proverbs 15:23).
