DUAL BLOCK DROP V1.2 ANLEITUNG
=======================================
DUAL BLOCK DROP version 1.2
Update: October 13, 1990
written by Norman Yen
DUAL BLOCK DROP is a clone of the
popular game we all know, Tetris. This
is a PUBLIC DOMAIN program so you can
freely distribute this game to whomever
you want. There is one catch, the copy
which you distribute must contain the
Dual Block Drop game and these
instructions in an unmodified state.
Previous versions of the game stated
a registration fee of $10, but I have
decided to elimate that idea. If you
have any questions, comment, or a
donation, write to:

The object of Dual Block Drop is to
rotate and move falling blocks so that
a solid line, of any colour, is created
across the box. This line can be any-
where within the boundaries (ie. at the
top, middle, and bottom). When any
solid line(s) are created, the line(s)
will disappear from the block and any
blocks above those lines will fall down
to where the lines once were.
Displayed at the side of your box
are your score, the number of lines
you've created, your current level, and
what the next piece is. After a certain
amount of lines, your level will
advance making the blocks drop quicker
and giving you more points for creating
lines. The highest level possible is
level 9 so you cannot go any higher.
Your game is over when a block cannot
fit into your play field. Under each
box are the colours of each type of
block and beside them are how many of
each block has been dropped.
Dual Block Drop requires the use of
joysticks. If you don't have any then
you'll have to borrow some or you could
try finding the keys that are the
equivalent to the joystick directions.
Player 1 is on the left half of the
screen and player 2 is on the right.
A joystick in port 1 will control
player 1 and a joystick in port 2 will
control player 2 (simple isn't it?).
Before you start your game, you can
change your starting level or toggle
the next block. Increasing your
starting level will increase the rate
at which the blocks fall and increase
the number of points you receive. The
next block is a box which shows a
picture of what the next block will be
and in what position it will be in.
Below is a table of what each joystick
direction does before you start your
game.
--------------------------------------
DIRECTION ACTION
--------------------------------------
Left Decrease level
Right Increase level
Up Next on
Down Next off
Button Start game
--------------------------------------
When playing the game, using a
joystick, you can move the current
block from left to right, pull the
block down, or rotate its position. To
move the block left or right just push
left or right on your joystick. To pull
the block down just pull down on the
joystick. If you want to rotate the
block, just push the button. By the
way, the block will rotate counter-
clockwise. Below is a table of what
each joystick direction does while the
game is in progress.
--------------------------------------
DIRECTION ACTION
--------------------------------------
Left Move block left
Right Move block right
Down Pull block down
Button Rotate block clockwise
--------------------------------------
The points you receive all depend on
what level you're on. How you go about
getting the points is quite easy. You
can get points by laying a block down
or clearing a line. The more lines you
clear at one time, the more points you
will receive.
You will notice that very high
scores can be obtained simply by
starting on a higher level, but don't
expect to last too long because it's
quite fast. The ability to change your
starting level was added so you can
practice the faster levels.
You're probably wondering why I've
made a clone of another game. I thought
it would be neat to make a two player
version where 2 players could play
simultaneously. In the arcade two
people could play at the same time,
while on the computer you can't. I do
not understand why they did that. Don't
expect a real professional looking game
here, just expect something close to
it. Oh well, I hope you enjoy the game.
