PX006 In order to move, it must say MOVEMENT MODE in the Text box under the Action Window.\n\n

PX007 Walking is the basic form of movement in the game.\n\n
<To Walk>:\n
~1.@ While in Movement Mode, push, pull or slide the mouse in the direction you want to go.\n\n
The mouse reacts very similar to a joystick. Moving the mouse forward or back will MOVE
you in a forward or reverse direction. Moving the mouse left or right will ROTATE you
left or right.\n\n
When you first enter movement mode you are standing still and the mouse is in its ZERO
(or starting) position. To move slowly, move the mouse a small distance from the
ZERO position. To move more quickly, move the mouse a greater distance from the ZERO
position. You can STOP by returning the mouse to the ZERO position, by clicking the
right mouse button, or by exiting movement mode.\n\n
<Note>: Revving the mouse will not increase the speed.\n\n
<Tip>: Once you're moving, you do not need to move the mouse, except to change direction.
PX008 Running allows you to cover ground more quickly than walking.\n\n
<To Run>:\n
~1.@ While in Movement Mode, push, pull or slide the mouse in the direction you want to go.\n
~2.@ While moving, press and hold down the R key.\n\n
<Tip>: Releasing the <R> key will slow you to a walking pace.
PX009 The Tilt option allows you to tilt the view up and down.\n\n
<To tilt the view up>:\n
~1.@ While in the Movement mode, press the up arrow key on the keyboard until
you reach the desired angle.\n\n
<To tilt the view down>:\n
~1.@ While in the Movement mode, press the down arrow key on the keyboard.
Hold the key down until you reach the desired angle.\n\n
<Important>: You can move with the tilt on.\n\n
<Tip>: Pressing the <TAB> key will return the view angle to level.\n\n
<Note>: On the Configuration screen under Preferences, the keys to tilt up/down
can be reversed. You can also reverse the keys while in VR by pressing F8 (F7 restores them
to the default settings).
PX010 The Slide option allows you to move laterally (sideways).\n\n
<To slide to the left>:\n
~1.@ While in the Movement mode, click and hold the left mouse button.\n
~2.@ Move the mouse to the left.\n\n
<To slide to the right>:\n
~1.@ While in the Movement mode, click and hold the left mouse button.\n

PX011 The Rotate option allows you to make a 360 degree turn from a stationary position.\n\n

PX012 The Up/Down option allows you to adjust the height of your eye level, from standing on tip-toes
to lying flat on the floor.\n\n
<To raise your eye level>:\n
~1.@ While in the Movement mode, press and hold the Left SHIFT key until you reach
the desired height.\n\n
<To lower your eye level>:\n
~1.@ While in the Movement mode, press and hold the CTRL key until you reach the desired
height.\n\n
<Note>: You can move around at any eye level.\n\n
<Tip>: Pressing the 'E' key will return the view to normal EYE level.
PX013 The Climb option allows you to walk up and down stairs or climb up and
down ladders. To climb stairs, simply walk onto them and continue
moving. The eye level will automatically raise or lower in relation
to where you are on the stairs. To climb a ladder, move close to the ladder
then click 'yes' if you want to climb the ladder.\n\n
<Note>: You can stop, turn, tilt, slide or run up stairs.
PX014 There are three ways to stop your movement.\n\n
<To Come to a Stop without Exiting Movement Mode>:\n
~1.@ Click the right mouse button <OR>\n
~2.@ Return the mouse to its ZERO position. (See WALKING)\n\n
<To Come to a Stop and Exit Movement Mode>:\n
~1.@ Press the Spacebar.\n\n

PX015 In this game, the only time you are taken through a doorway automatically is when
you are standing very close to the door when you open it. Otherwise, you need to move
into the doorway to pass through it.
PX016 The Travel System is not related to the type of movement discussed in this section. For
information and/or instructions, see How to Travel in the Help Menu.
PX017 Located directly beneath the Action window is the Command Display (i.e. Look, Get,
Move, Open, Talk, On/Off). In order to use these commands, you must be in
INTERACTIVE Mode (not Movement Mode).\n\n

~1.@ While in the Interactive Mode, position the cursor over the object you want to LOOK at.\n
<In order to LOOK at the object, the MAGNIFYING GLASS cursor must be displayed.>\n

PX019 The GET COMMAND allows you to PICK UP an object and add it to your INVENTORY.
Whenever the cursor is positioned over a GETTABLE object, GET will light up

PX021 The OPEN COMMAND allows you to OPEN objects such as doors, safes, drawers, etc.

PX023 The ON/OFF COMMAND allows you to TURN THINGS ON or OFF (i.e computers, etc.).

~1.@ While in the Interactive Mode, position the cursor over an appropriate object.\n

PX024 Often, conversations will start immediately when you enter a room. In other instances,
you need to initiate the conversation by using the TALK command.\n\n
<To Initiate a Conversation>:\n
~1.@ While in the Interactive Mode, position the cursor over the character you want to talk to.\n
~2.@ Click the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON until the TALKING MOUTH cursor is displayed.\n
~3.@ Click the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON to enter Conversation Mode.\n\n

PX025 There are two types of conversation in the game. The first is called interactive
conversation, which means you choose how Tex responds to the character he is talking
to. The second is like a movie scene, where you watch the conversation play out
without influencing the outcome.\n\n
During an interactive conversation, you will have to choose from three possible responses
at each juncture in the conversation. These choices are displayed in the three
Response Attitude (A,B,C) boxes located in the lower right corner of the screen.\n\n
<To Select a Response Attitude>:\n
When the character you are talking to finishes his/her opening line, click the
A, B or C button or (A,B,C) on the key board to have Tex respond according to the
Response Attitude.
PX026 With most of the characters in the game, you can reach a point where they are
willing to answer questions. At this point, ASK ABOUT will appear as an A, B, or C
response and the ASK ABOUT LIST will be displayed.\n\n
<To Use the ASK ABOUT LIST>:\n
~1.@ When you reach the point in a conversation where the character is willing to
cooperate, choose the ASK ABOUT response. This will bring up the ASK ABOUT LIST.\n
~2.@ In the ASK ABOUT LIST, click on the topic you want to ASK ABOUT and the
character will automatically respond.\n\n
<Note>: If there are more topics in the LIST than can be displayed on screen,
the UP and DOWN ARROW BUTTONS will become active. Click the Up or Down buttons
to page up or down.
PX027 Some of the characters you meet in the game will not cooperate until you
GIVE THEM SOMETHING from your INVENTORY.\n\n
<To Offer an Inventory Item to a Character>:\n
~1.@ When you reach the point in a conversation where the character is willing to accept
something, choose the OFFER FROM INVENTORY response. This will bring up the
INVENTORY LIST.\n
~2.@ In the INVENTORY LIST, click on the item you want to OFFER. A picture of the
object will appear.\n
~3.@ Click the OFFER FROM INVENTORY response. The character will automatically
respond to your offer.\n\n
<Note>: If there are more items in the LIST than can be displayed on screen,
the UP and DOWN ARROW BUTTONS will become active.
Click the Up or Down buttons to page up or down.
PX028 There are two ways to end a conversation. First, you may offend the character you're
talking to and get booted out (or killed in extreme cases). The other way requires that
you continue the conversation until END CONVERSATION appears as a response.
This will normally happen at the ASK ABOUT or OFFER FROM INVENTORY point.\n\n
<To End a Conversation>:\n
~1.@ When the conversation reaches the ASK ABOUT or OFFER FROM INVENTORY point, click
the END CONVERSATION response.\n\n
<Early exit from a conversation is not allowed.>
PX029 SAVING BEFORE STARTING A CONVERSATION is a good idea for several reasons. First, if the
conversation doesn't progress the way you would like, you can resume play at the
point immediately before the conversation and talk to the same character again. Second,
you may see an intriguing Response Attitude that you are curious to hear, but feel that you
should use a different attitude. Saving before the conversation allows you to go back and
see all the different possibilities. <See HOW TO SAVE A GAME.>
PX030 Using the GET COMMAND allows you to pick up an object and add it to your Inventory.\n\n
<To GET an Object>:\n
~1.@ While in the Interactive Mode, position the cursor over the object you want to pick up.\n
~2.@ Click the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON until the GRASPING HAND cursor is displayed.\n
~3.@ Click the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON to pick up the object.
PX031 Once an object has been added to the Inventory you can--and should--EXAMINE it to
see if it contains hidden objects or information.\n\n
<To EXAMINE an Inventory Item>:\n
~1.@ Click the Inventory button. This will display the INVENTORY LIST.\n
~2.@ Click on the ITEM in the INVENTORY LIST to highlight it.\n
~3.@ Click the EXAMINE BUTTON.
PX032 In many instances throughout the game, two or more inventory items need to be
COMBINED to create a new inventory item.\n\n
<To COMBINE Inventory Items>:\n
~1.@ Click the COMBINE BUTTON. This will take you into COMBINE MODE, and the
inventory items will be displayed in the Action window.\n
~2.@ Move the cursor over one of the items you want to combine and CLICK on it.\n
~3.@ Now move the cursor over the other item and CLICK again. If the items can
combine, they will, otherwise nothing will happen.\n
~4.@ To release the original item, click the right mouse button.\n\n
<Note>: TO EXIT the Combine Mode, click the Resume button in the Action window.
If the window is full of objects the up/down arrow buttons become active
so that you can scroll through the objects.
PX033 Most of the inventory items need to be USED at some point in the game.
For example you may have to use a KEY on a LOCKED DOOR.\n\n
<To USE Inventory Items>:\n
~1.@ Click the INVENTORY BUTTON. This will display the INVENTORY LIST.\n
~2.@ In the Inventory List, click on the ITEM to highlight it.\n
~3.@ Click the USE BUTTON.\n
~4.@ Move the cursor into the Action window. The cursor will appear as the ITEM you
selected.\n
~5.@ Move the cursor over the RECIPIENT OBJECT in the Action window, and click
the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON.
PX034 Some of the characters you meet in the game will not cooperate until you

PX037 The Hint System is designed to Allow you to get a hint anytime you are stuck in the game.\n\n
<To Get a Hint>:\n
~1.@ Click the HINT button. This will display the HINT DIRECTORY screen.
The topics listed are unresolved puzzles. This a level 1 hint and costs 1 point.\n
~2.@ FIND THE PUZZLE you want a hint for and CLICK ON IT.
This will display the STEPS COMPLETED FOR ... screen.
This screen displays how many steps must be completed, and how many have
already been completed. This is a level 2 hint and is free.\n
~3.@ If you want a hint, click the button next to the blank line
highest on the screen. A hint will appear, which will cost 4 points.\n\n
<Note>: When you ask for a hint, the line appears in green and will stay green until you
have completed the step. All completed steps appear in blue. You cannot ask for
another hint until you have accomplished the action for the previous hint.\n\n
<Important>: The game uses a Point System in which you earn points by solving
cases, getting objects, etc. Points are displayed at the top of the screen during
normal play. Each time you click the hint button you are penalized 1 point. If
ask for a level 3 hint, you are penalized another 4 points. In order to earn a
perfect score of 1000 points, you will need to complete the game without using hints.\n
If you would rather run the program without using hints, you can prevent access to the
Hint System.\n\n
<To Turn On/Off access to the Hint System>:\n
~1.@ Click the Auxiliary Panel button. This will display the Auxiliary Panel.\n
~2.@ Click the Config button. This will display the Configuration screen.\n
~3.@ On the Configuration screen, go to where it says Hints and click in the On or Off box.
PX039 There are many paths that take you to the end of the story, and there is a great deal to
see and do in the game. To encourage you to investigate thoroughly, we have
included a point system. Each time you solve a case or pick up an object, you
are awarded a certain number of points. If you do everything possible in the game
(and don't ask for any hints), you can reach a perfect score of 1000 points.\n
Your point total is displayed during game play at the top of the screen.
When you enter the Hint System, it is displayed in the upper right corner
of the screen.
PX042 You are free to modify your configuration at any time. The configuration for the
program is displayed on a Configuration screen, which is easily accessible.\n\n
<To Go to the Configuration Screen>:\n
~1.@ Click the Auxiliary Panel button. This will display the Auxiliary Panel.\n
~2.@ Click the Config button. This will display the Configuration screen.
PX043 The CD-ROM tab is designed to allow users with multiple drives or CD changers
to make use of the extra devices when playing the game.\n\n
<DRIVE ASSIGNMENTS>\n
Drive Assignments are not necessary for the Pandora Directive Demo, since it
comes on a single CD-ROM that should always be placed in the first CD-ROM drive letter.
Nevertheless the final version of the game will let you assign each of the 6 CD's to a
different drive letter if you have multiple CD-ROM drives or a CD changer.\n\n
<TRANSFER RATE and BURST RATE>\n
These are the two most important performance characteristics of CD-ROM drives.
Transfer rate is the rate at which data comes off the disc into the internal buffer.
Burst rate is the rate at which data is sent to the CPU from the internal buffer.
Transfer rates below 300 KB/sec may cause poor display performance, especially if
associated with a slow video card. Press the TEST button to test the performance of
the indicated drive.\n\n
<Note>: To reconfigure this setting, you must go to the CD-ROM tab on the
Configuration screen.
PX044 The Memory section (in the upper right corner of the Configuration screen)
reports the amount of extended memory available while the program is running.\n\n
If the available extended memory is below 16000 KB (16 MB), the graphics for the
VR scenes (movement mode) will automatically scale to fit into the available space.
The lower this value (below 16000 KB), the more scaling that occurs and the more
blocky the appearance of the scene.\n\n
You may be able to increase the amount of extended memory available by removing
or reducing the size of DISC CACHES, RAM DRIVES, etc. If you are running under
Windows 95 you should consider booting to DOS, since more memory will be
available for the game.\n\n
PX045 The video tab reports <the speed of the Video Display System> (the rate at which
video images can be placed on the screen). This is a function of both the speed of the
VIDEO CARD and the speed of the CPU and has a significant effect on the playback of the
movie sequences. Very slow video may cause the playback to be choppy and may cause the
sound to break up. <Click on the TEST button to check the performance of the video>
<system.> Values below 10000 k/s are considered slow. Values above 15000 k/s are
considered fast.
We have also included a Contrast/Gamma test screen to help adjust your
monitor correctly. \n\n
PX046 Although configuring your sound device is often the most difficult and
frustrating part of setting up a game, we have tried to make it as easy
and as flexible as possible.\n\n
To begin the process, click the <Set Sound Device> button in the lower left
corner of the Configuration screen. Read the instructions carefully.
There are two devices that must be set up, the DIGITAL SOUND DEVICE
and the MIDI MUSIC DEVICE. Each setup screen has instructions to
assist in the process.\n\n
<Note>: If the values in the I/O PORT, INTERRUPT, or DMA CHANNEL boxes
do not match values for your card, you may enter the appropriate numbers
directly by clicking in the box, typing in the value, and pressing ENTER.
PX047 <Captioning (On/Off)> ON to print TEXT along with digital speech.\n\n
<Hints (On/Off)> OFF to make the HINTS UNAVAILABLE during play.\n\n
<Walking Speed (Slow/Med/Fast)>\n\n
<Mouse Sensitivity (Low/Med/High)>\n\n
<TILT Control (Normal/Reverse)>\n
Normal: Cursor Up = UP Cursor Down = DOWN\n
Reverse: Cursor Up = DOWN Cursor Down = UP\n\n
<Window Size>\n
The size of the display window while in movement mode can be adjusted
to any of 10 different sizes. Click the box next to the size you
want or press the corresponding HOT KEY (1-0) during play.\n\n
<Rendering Quality>\n
Select HIGH, MED or LOW quality. The rendering speed for high quality
is slowest while the rendering speed for low quality is fastest.
You can also use the HOT KEYS F2/F3/F4\n\n
<Interactive Mode - Always switch to 428x324>\n\n
Activate this option to return to full size in INTERACTIVE mode even
if movement mode is set to a small size.\n\n
<Interactive Mode - Do Letterbox scenes in low res>\n\n
This option should only be used if you experience choppy video scenes. If this
option is enabled it will play video in a lower resolution mode (VGA) which helps
slower video cards to keep up with the frame rate.\n\n
<Note>: To reconfigure this setting, you must go to the Preference tab on the
Configuration screen.
PX048 This function is not operational.
PX049 Two types of sound can be played in the program: Digital and MIDI. Depending on
the hardware in your computer you may be using one, both, or neither of these.\n\n
<To Adjust the Sound Volume>:\n
~1.@ Click the Auxiliary Panel button. This will display the Auxiliary Panel.\n
~2.@ Click the Config button. This will display the Configuration screen.\n
~3.@ In the Sound section, there are two separate volume controls,\n
one under Digital Sound Device and another under MIDI Music Device.\n
~4.@ Click the up or down arrow keys to raise or lower the volume.\n\n
<Tip>: Use the Test button(s) to check the volume level before returning to the program.
PX050 Captioning can be displayed in the Text box under the Action window, which allows
the hearing impaired to enjoy the program. To those who don't need to read
the text, it may be something of a distraction.\n\n
<Three ways to Turn On/Off the Captioning>:\n
~1.@ Click the text button in VR.\n
~2.@ Check the ON/OFF box for Captioning on the Preference tab in the Configuration screen.\n
~3.@ Or toggle the captioning by pressing F5 or X anytime.
PX051 There are ten different sizes for the movement mode display, ranging
from small (240x180) to full-screen (640x480).\n\n
<Note>: The smaller the window size, the faster the movement will be. If you have a
less powerful computer, you will probably want to use a smaller window when
walking around. You can, however, resize the Action window at any time, even while
moving. We recommend that users with slower computers use a smaller window
when in Movement Mode.\n\n
<To Resize the Window>\n
~1.@ Click on the Configuration button in the main menu. This will display the Configuration screen.\n
~2.@ Click on the Preference tab. This will bring the Preference Screen to the foreground.\n
~3.@ In the Movement Mode section click the box next to the screen size you want.\n
~4.@ Click the OK button to return to the program.\n\n
<Tip>: You can also resize the screen by pressing one of the ten number keys (1-0) on the
keyboard while you are in VR.
PX052 <To Save a Game>:\n
~1.@ Click the Auxiliary Panel button to open the Auxiliary Panel.\n
~2.@ Click the Save button. The Ready to Save a Game screen will be displayed.\n
~3.@ Click the Increment File Name and Save button. The Add Comment box will be
displayed.\n
~4.@ If you choose to add comments to the saved game file (such as who you've talked
to and what you've found out), type them in.\n
~5.@ Click the OK button.
PX053 Player Name displays the name under which the saved game will be stored.\n\n
<Note>: All saved games are filed under players' names (i.e. Bob.001, Bob.002, etc.)
PX054 The Day information refers to where you are chronologically in the program. Since
the action in The Pandora Directive is divided into 10 days, the Day number will be
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10.
PX055 The Location information refers to your current physical location in the
program (i.e. Tex's Office).
PX056 The File Name displayed is that of your last saved game. Whichever saved game file

PX060 The Game File Names box contains all the games saved by the current player. The
games are listed chronologically, with the first game file you saved at the top of the
list, and the most recent at the bottom. The most recent saved game file will also be

File Names box, use the scroll bar to locate the saved game file you're looking for.
PX061 The Increment File Name and Save button is the most-used button in this system.
Since there is no practical limit on the number of saved game files you can
accumulate, there is no reason to ever save over a previously saved game. Clicking
this button will simply create a new saved game file with the numerical extension
increased by one (i.e. BOB.001 TO BOB.002). The Player Name, Day, Location, File
Name, Date and Time information will automatically be included.

PX075 The box that takes up the bottom half of the Ready to resume a Saved Game screen is
called the Saved Games display box. The first column in the Saved Games Display
box (Date) displays the actual date on which you saved the game file. The second
column (Time) displays what time it was when you saved the game file. The third
column (Day) displays which Day it is in the game. Since the story in The Pandora
Directive unfolds over seven days, this column will display Day 1 through Day 7. The
fourth column (Location), displays where you were physically in the game when you
saved (i.e. Tex's Office).\n\n

Sounds in the game are stored in two separate formats and each format is
used for a different purpose. All speech, digitized music and sound effects
are stored in Digital format while the background music is stored in MIDI
Music format. The Digital format is played by the Digital Sound Device
and the MIDI Music format is played by the MIDI Music Device.\n\n
The Sound tab (located in the Configuration screen) contains the
information for the Digital Sound Device and the MIDI Music Device. Both
devices have a Test button, Volume control and On/Off check boxes.\n\n
To Turn the Sound On or Off:--Click in one of the check boxes.\n
To Test the Sound:------------Click the TEST button.\n
To Adjust the Volume:---------Click the Up or Down Arrow buttons.\n\n
<Note>: In addition to the other options there is a Reverse Stereo selection
that will swap the left and right channels.\n\n
<Tip>: Since the Digital Sound and the MIDI Music often play
simultaneously, adjust the volume levels so the music won't drown out the
speech.\n\n
<To Configure the Sound>:\n
Click on the Set Sound Device button. This
will bring up the sound setup screen. (Refer to the section on
Configuring the Sound, below.)\n\n
<Configuring The Sound>\n
Most sound cards can function as both the Digital Sound Device and the
MIDI Music Device and can play both formats simultaneously. Therefore,
setting up your sound system normally involves identifying which card you
have and finding the correct hardware configuration (I/O Ports, Interrupt,
and DMA channel).\n\n
<Note>: To Hear All The Sounds In The Game, You Must Set Both
Devices. The Digital Sound Device is required. The MIDI Music
Device is not required, but recommended.\n\n
<Setting the DIGITAL SOUND DEVICE> (must be set)\n
Click OK if necessary to bring up the screen that says Digital Format.
This is where you select the Digital Sound Device. Highlight your device
(card) in the Device List by clicking on it. If you do not know which
device or which settings to use, click the AUTO DETECT button (See
below). Use the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to change the I/O Port,
Interrupt and DMA channel settings. If the correct number is not available
through the arrow keys you can enter it by clicking into the appropriate
box (Hit enter to exit the box).\n\n
Test the device by clicking the SOUND TEST button. If you hear
digitized speech then the test was successful and you should click OK to
continue. If you do not hear any speech, the test was not successful. You
may want to try other I/O, Interrupt and DMA settings, or you may want
to try AUTO DETECT again.\n\n
<Setting the MIDI MUSIC DEVICE> (should be set)\n\n
<Note>: This option will only be available if your machine has 5.3 MB of
memory free to the game. You can verify how much memory is free to the game
by checking the Extended Memory Available Box in the Configuration screen.\n\n
Click OK or CONTINUE if necessary to bring up the screen that says
MIDI Music Format. Here you will select the MIDI Music Device.
Usually, the same card you selected as the Digital Sound Device can
function as the MIDI Music Device. If so, it will already be highlighted
in the Device List. You can keep this device or select another device by
clicking on it. Then use the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to set the I/O
Port. If the correct number is not available through the arrow keys you
can enter it by clicking into the box (Hit enter to exit the box).
Now Test the device by clicking the SOUND TEST button. If you hear music,
then the test was successful and you should click OK to continue. If you
do not hear music, the test was not successful. You may want to try other
I/O Port settings.\n\n
<Using the AUTO DETECT feature> (Digital Sound Device only):\n
If you do not remember which sound card you have (a common problem)
or which settings to use for the Digital Sound Device (a very common
problem), you can ask the Sound Module to find out for you.
This feature is called AUTO DETECT and works as follows:
The program has a list of sound cards and it knows how each card is
supposed to respond when interrogated. Starting with the most common
card, the program checks to see if it is out there. If there is no response,
then the next most common card is checked and so on. If the card does
respond, then the appropriate settings are retrieved and the program
pauses and displays the name of the card and the settings. At this point
you can click the ACCEPT button to stop the AUTO DETECT process or
click the CONTINUE button to keep trying.\n\n
<Note 1> --- Lock Ups\n
Some sound cards do not react well to the interrogation process and
may lock up the computer. If this happens, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE
and try AUTO DETECT again. The program keeps track of combinations
which cause a lock up (during Auto Detect) and will not try that
combination again. If you install a new sound card, be sure to click
the <CLEAR LOG> button before using AUTO DETECT.\n\n
<Note 2> --- Phantom Detections\n
Some sound cards can be mistaken for other cards. This produces
what is called Phantom Detections. The AUTO DETECT process
appears to find a card that really isn't there and the SOUND TEST
doesn't work (of course). In this case you should try AUTO DETECT
again and select CONTINUE rather than ACCEPT when the
program pauses on the phantom card.\n\n
<Note>: To reconfigure this setting, you must go to the Sound tab on the
configuration screen.
PX105 The Hint System is designed to allow you to get a hint anytime you are stuck in the game.\n\n
<To Get a Hint>:\n
~1.@ Click the HINT button. This will display the HINT DIRECTORY screen.
The topics listed are unresolved puzzles.\n
~2.@ FIND THE PUZZLE you want a hint for and CLICK ON IT.
This will display the STEPS COMPLETED FOR ... screen.
This screen displays how many steps must be completed, and how many have
already been completed.\n
~3.@ If you want a hint, click the button to the left of the next blank line.
A hint will appear.\n\n
<Note>: When you ask for a hint, the line appears in green and will stay green until you
have completed the step. All completed steps appear in blue.\n\n
PX106 There are ten different sizes for the movement mode display, ranging
from small (240x180) to full-screen (640x480).\n\n
<Note>: The smaller the window size, the faster the movement will be. If you have a
less powerful computer, you will probably want to use a smaller window when
walking around. You can, however, resize the Action window at any time, even while
moving. We recommend that users with slower computers use a smaller window
when in Movement Mode.\n\n

~1.@ Click the Configuration button on the Main Menu.\n

~3.@ In the Movement Mode section click the box next to the screen size you want.\n
~4.@ Click the OK button to return to the program.\n\n
<Tip>: You can also resize the screen by pressing one of the ten number keys (1-0) on the
keyboard while you are in VR.
PX107 Two types of sound can be played in the program: Digital and MIDI. Depending on
the hardware in your computer you may be using one, both, or neither of these.\n\n
<To Adjust the Sound Volume>:\n
~1.@ Click the Configuration button on the Main Menu.\n
~2.@ Under the Sound tab, there are two separate volume controls,\n
one under Digital Sound Device and another under MIDI Music Device.\n
~3.@ Click the up or down arrow keys to raise or lower the volume.\n\n
<Tip>: Use the Test button(s) to check the volume level before returning to the program.
