- ±12 Stop cracking games!

- ±11This is an attempt to make some guys
- understand a very important thing.
-
- Cracking games is killing the Amiga's
- future. I think the people who crack
- games are aware of this, but they
- don't seem to care.
-
- Where have all the quality games for
- Amiga gone? Only a few years ago
- there were made a lot more quality
- games than today. I mean, why should
- software firms make games for Amiga,
- when their games are cracked the
- minute they hit the marked. Instead,
- they move over to the console
- business. There they make a lot more
- money. Cracking is rather small or
- practicly non-existing. There are
- diskdrives available for e.g Nintendo
- consoles, which copies the console
- ram, but many games have a
- save-funtion (in an additional chip)
- which is impossible to copy...
-
- Now, the really big problem is when
- you get your hands on a cracked
- quality game (Monkey Island for
- instance) months before it's released
- in the shops. The best way to deal
- with this is to check out the game,
- if you really like it, you should
- consider buying the original.
-
- When every singel software firm has
- left the Amiga in favour for the
- consoles, or the PC marked, the Amiga
- hardware firms will shrink. This
- will again result in fewer Amiga's
- being sold. Commodore will get
- bankrupt and the scene will die.
-
- So, I ask myself, is it worth it? Of
- course it isn't! Are crackers
- cracking games for money, by selling
- copies to lamers or is it just the
- thrill of beating yet another
- copy-protection? If it's the last
- mentioned reason, I think they should
- start coding demos instead.
