  2.  THE SAVAGES.   Written by Ian Stuart Black.   4 episodes.
  3.                 28th May - 18th June 1966.

  5.  COMPANIONS:- Steven and Dodo.
  6.  
  7.    The Doctor and his companions land on a barren sandy planet inhabited
  8.  by two races, the Elders and the Savages. The TARDIS crew are taken to the
  9.  Elders' capital to meet Jano, leader of the city. The Elders appear to
  10.  have reached the peak of civilisation being strong, healthy, intelligent
  11.  and tanned. In contrast, the Savages are a pale, timid folk eking out an
  12.  existence and living in fear of the Elders.
  13.    Dodo and Steven are taken on a tour of the Elders city and Dodo wanders
  14.  off. She comes across a laboratory where the Elders' secret is revealed.
  15.  They are strong and vibrant because they are draining the life force and
  16.  energy from the Savages.
  17.    The Doctor refuses to believe this story until Jano drains some of his
  18.  life force into his body. Jano inherits some of the characteristics of the 
  19.  Doctor and develops a conscience. He goes to the Savages and leads them in
  20.  an attack to destroy the transferrence lab. The Elders and Savages choose
  21.  Steven to be their leader and the Doctor and Dodo leave him to his task.
