  2.  THE RESCUE.   Written by David Whittaker.   2 Episodes.
  3.                2nd - 9th January 1965.

  5.  The Powerful Enemy, Desperate Measures.

  7.  COMPANIONS:- Ian, Barbara and introducing Vicki.
  8.  
  9.    The Doctor lands on the planet Dido in the year 2493. He finds a crashed
  10.  spaceship with two survivors, a disabled man called Bennett and a young
  11.  girl, Vicki. 
  12.    Bennett tells the Doctor that the crew of the ship were murdered by the
  13.  locals and Vicki says that a native, Koquillion, is protecting them from
  14.  further harm. The Doctor is suspicious of this story and challenges 
  15.  Koquillion, who is revealed to be Bennett in disguise. Bennett confesses to
  16.  murdering the crew and the Didonians to cover up his previous murder of a 
  17.  crewman. He plans to take Vicki, ignorant of his crimes, back to Earth to
  18.  testify to his innocence.
  19.    However, two Didonian survivors appear and scare Bennett into falling
  20.  from a cliff to his death. The Doctor invites Vicki to join the TARDIS
  21.  crew and she accepts.
