  10.     I have been searching for a small, yet powerful text editor for
  11. Windows. I was not satisfied with many of them. Others, though they did
  12. work, would not save text in the same format as I saw on the screen. When I
  13. go into DOS and view the text it is not set right. MegaEdit has changed
  14. that.

  16.     Editors I have used tend to set word-wrap and margins according to how
  17. large a screen you are using. If you have the program running in a full
  18. window, there is a tendency for the lines to be longer. These lines would
  19. be saved in this format. This means I had to go into a DOS editor and
  20. repaginate the text. For that matter I may as well have just used the DOS
  21. editor from the start. Another program I had tried would set the line
  22. according to the size of the font I used. Smaller fonts get more than 76
  23. characters per line, while larger ones got less. MegaEdit has a word-wrap
  24. feature. If you set it at 76, the text wraps at 76. No matter how large or
  25. small a window you have. This is the way word-wrap should work.

  27.     Computer Witchcraft, makers of MegaEdit, extracted the editor from a
  28. larger program they are working on, and added a few enhancements to make it
  29. the stand-alone program it is.

  31.     MegaEdit is a shareware program. It is a Windows program, and has
  32. drop-down menus and mouse support. You can do all the standard
  33. cut/copy/paste features. In addition you can change colors of the screen
  34. and text; Set Tabs; Word-Wrap; Search text with replace and more.

  36.     You can Export or Convert text  for DOS, Macintosh, and UNIX. Files are
  37. saved in plain ASCII format and do not have any special formatting codes
  38. embedded.

  40.     Registered users can get support from a variety of sources including
  41. CompuServe. Owners are provided with registration information. When a new
  42. version is released, all you have to do is download it. This cuts downs on
  43. mailings, and provides users with faster access to new releases. It seems
  44. as if more and more are going this route. I think it is a better
  45. alternative.

  49. is v2.03.
