  2. THE INCREDIBLE TOON MACHINE from SIERRA

  7. Al the cat and Sid the mouse are back in a new windows version of "The 
  8. Incredible Toon Machine".  Twist your brain through 130 new mind-crushing 
  9. puzzles, or design your own from a choice of over 71 gadgets in the
  10. Hometoons.

  12. The game is available in two versions:  floppy and on CD-ROM.  The CD version
  13. adds features such as CD-quality tunes ranging from classical music to hard
  14. rock, cartoon animations featuring Sid and Al, dialogues for the explanation
  15. of your goals, and a cartoon introduction that resembles Itchy and Scratchy
  16. (tm).

  18. You have three choices to choose from in the main menu:  Solve-A-Puzzle,
  19. Head-2-Head, and Hometoons.

  21. In Solve-a-puzzle, you start with very easy puzzles which introduce the 
  22. basic elements and the two characters.  It is mainly like a tutorial at the
  23. beginning, but you really have to follow it through if you are not familiar
  24. with the Incredible Toon or Incredible Machine series.

  26. As written above, 130 puzzles are included in the game with the difficulty
  27. increasing from level to level.  Each gadget can be manipulated with handles.
  28. These handles appear around the gadget when you move it on the main screen
  29. of the puzzle.  With the accordion, you can stretch a part to the right, but
  30. with the worm it is to the left.  The spring will stretch it downward and the
  31. flower upward.  Among the gadgets, only seven have a specific handle called
  32. computer that will modify the function.  For example, you will be able to
  33. change the number of eggs Hildegard the hen will lay, or choose how many
  34. bullets the gun will shoot.

  36. You will have a lot of fun trying possibly billions of possibilities to
  37. solve the puzzle, keeping in mind that only a few and sometimes only one will
  38. work correctly.

  40. Head-2-Head is divided into two sections:  the single or tournament match.
  41. With the first option, single, only one puzzle will be offered.  The second
  42. option, tournament, lets you decide how many games you want to play.
  43. In this Head-2-Head game, players decide who will be Sid and who will be Al.
  44. Then, a menu will let you enter the allotted time for each character's turn.
  45. Remember, the first person to solve the puzzle will be the winner.  Each
  46. player places only one object during their turn.  If you have no idea as to
  47. how to solve the puzzle and you see that your opponent is well on their way
  48. to solving it, you can always try to sabotage the solution, having more time
  49. to come up with your own.  This feature, although only available for two
  50. players on the same computer, brings many challenges to both players.

  52. The third choice, Hometoons, lets your creativity design its own
  53. brain-squeezing levels.  You can choose to create easy ones as well as
  54. nightmarish levels requiring dozens of gadgets in order to  solve the puzzle.
  55. The Hometoons control panel offers several options.  The load/save option
  56. will enable you to save your piece of artwork (so that you can share it
  57. with friends or anyone else), and to load existing levels to modify them for
  58. example.  In the clapper, you write the title and the goal of the puzzle to
  59. make it easier for others to know what they have to do to solve it.  The
  60. honker is the place where you choose the music and sounds among a wide
  61. selection. There are also the Nuke-a-Toon and Check List options. Nuke-a-Toon
  62. will erase a toon, and Check List will provide you with the list of steps 
  63. needed to make a toon, so that you do not forget any actions.
