  5. It  looks like Voyager's well into the
  6. video  release  of  it's second season
  7. and  terrestrial  TV hasn't even had a
  8. sniff of it yet.

  12. To  recap for anybody who doesn't know
  13. out  there.   Voyager  is  the  fourth
  14. incarnation  of  the  Star  Trek saga,
  15. after    Deep   Space   Nine.    After
  16. disembarking  from  DS9  to pursue and
  17. capture  a  rebel  Marquis  craft (now
  18. where  the  "Darth Vader" have I heard
  19. something  similar  to  that before!),
  20. Voyager along with the Maquis ship are
  21. carried  millions  of miles across the
  22. universe  into the Delta quadrant by a
  23. mysterious   force.    The   force  in
  24. question  turns  out  to be an unknown
  25.

  29. entity  named  the  "Caretaker"  whose
  30. self-elected  purpose  in  life  is to
  31. care  for  a  race  called the Ocampa.
  32. Unfortunately,   the   Caretaker  dies
  33. along  with  Voyager's  best chance of
  34. returning  to  Federation  space.  The
  35. crew  of  the  Maquis  ship  are  then
  36. forced  to  evacuate  to Voyager after
  37. their own vessel is damaged by a Kazon
  38. attack.
  39. ...And there you have the recipe for a
  40. new generation of Star Trek.

  44. Season One ended with the episode "the
  45. 37's"  in  which  the  crew of Voyager
  46. discovered a number of alien abductees
  47. taken  from  Earth  in  the year 1937.
  48. This  was  no  doubt influenced by the
  49. X-Files to some extent.

  51. Season  Two  is  now well underway and
  52. the   fourth   video   has  just  been
  53. released.   Oh  well, a whole quadrant
  54. to  explore  and  we've only got until
  55. the rating's waver.

  61. In  this,  the  first  episode  of the
  62. second  season, Chakotay finds himself
  63. the  target  of  a young Kazon warrior
  64. trying to earn his name.  Predictably,
  65. Chakotay  evades  being  destroyed and
  66. reluctantly  fires on his enemy.  Upon
  67. rescuing  the  Kazon  warrior from the
  68. unstable  wreakage  of  his vessel, he
  69. discovers  that  the  punishment for a
  70. Kazon  for failing to earn his name is
  71. death.

  74. The   storyline  to  this  episode  is
  75. almost  as  confusing  as  it's  name.
  76. Harry Kim finds himself back home with

  89. a  job as a Starfleet Engineer, a home
  90. and  a  fiancee.  I can't let you into
  91. anymore  or  I'll  ruin  it  for  you.
  92. Needless  to  say  this  is  one of my
  93. personal  favourites  out  of  all the
  94. Voyager episodes.

  100. Following  a  jealous  fight over Kes,
  101. the captain sends Tom Paris and Neelix
  102. down  to  a  planet  nicknamed  "Hell"
  103. because     of     it's    atmospheric
  104. conditions,  on  a mission to scavenge
  105. food.   Once on the surface, they find
  106. themselves  working  together  to care
  107. for a new-born alien being.

  110. Since  it's  been  a while when I last
  111. watched this, and my memory's shyte, I
  112. can't  remember  the complete story to
  113. it.  But it's one of those common Star
  114. Trek  episodes that involves the whole
  115. of  the  crew.   In  this  case,  each
  116. crewmember  in  turn falls in a trance
  117. after  speaking  to  someone  close to
  118. them.

  124. This is a really deep episode in which
  125. we  learn  much  about  Chakotay,  his
  126. background   and,   particularly,  his
  127. relationship  with  his  father.   The
  128. Commander  leads  an  away  team  to a
  129. planet  searching  for fuel, when they
  130. encounter  a  alien  race reluctant to
  131. show    their    faces.    Plenty   of
  132. flashbacks   and   one   of  the  more
  133. original   and   interesting   of  the
  134. Voyager episodes.

  137. This  episode  sees  Voyager  and it's
  138. crew  meet  the  female  mate  of  the
  139. "Caretaker"  they  have been searching
  140. for.  As with the original "Caretaker"
  141. this entity has associated itself with
  142. the Ocampa.  But this particular tribe
  143. of    the    Ocampa    have    evolved
  144. independantly of the rest of the race.

  147. Now  when  the  hell  am I supposed to
  148. have   watched   it!   This  god  damn
  149. magazine has took most of my life over
  150. for the last couple of weeks.
