  5. As  everyone should know there is huge
  6. profits   awaiting   drug  dealers  in
  7. clubs.    And   where  there's  drugs,
  8. there's  money...   and  where there's
  9. money  there's  going  to be violence.
  10. The  following extract appeared in the
  11. November  1995  issue of GQ and is the
  12. main influence for the article:

  15. "The doorman's Pit Bull terrier in the
  16. foyer  of  the  nightclub was meant to
  17. act    as    a    deterrent   to   any
  18. troublemakers.   But it was no defence
  19. against  the man running up the stairs
  20. shooting  at it with a silver-coloured
  21. pistol.   Two  shots  and  the dog was
  22. dead.    The   gunman  and  his  posse
  23. trampled   over   the  animal  as  the
  24. punters   scattered.    Bullets   were
  25.

  29. pumped  into  the groin and thigh of a
  30. bouncer and the barman was Kneecapped.
  31. A  member of the gang smashed a bottle
  32. and rammed it into the face of another
  33. doorman.   The  bouncer's  main artery
  34. was severed and it took 50 stitches to
  35. close up the wound."

  38. Other  doormen  haven't been so lucky.
  39. There  have been a number of deaths in
  40. the  last few months as the victims of
  41. the new wave of drug violence spreads,
  42. where bouncers are at the frontline of
  43. the  big money to be made from dealing
  44. in the nightclubs across England.

  46. Speaking  from  experience I have seen
  47. the  constant  use  of  drugs in local
  48. nightclubs  down here in Plymouth.  It
  49. was  only  a  few days ago when I went
  50. with a mate to the local hotspot known
  51. as  "Oz".
  52. This  being a Friday night, and having
  53. been  in the club no longer than about
  54. an  hour since it had opened, I need a
  55. jimmy  riddle,  so off I walked to the
  56. bog.   Having  just  got  in  the bog,
  57. about two seconds later in walks these
  58. three blokes.  One was really fuck-off
  59. huge  and  he just started beating the
  60. fuck  out of one of the smaller blokes
  61. that  had  walked  in  with  him.  The
  62. bloke  was kicking him and shouting "A
  63. SHITTY FUCKING THREE HUNDRED, THAT ALL
  64. YOU'VE GOT FOR ME!".  He then produced
  65. a  large  plastic  bag from his pocket
  66. and  threw  it at the lad, who was now
  67. on   the   floor  bleeding.   He  then
  68. shouted  at  the lad on the floor - "I
  69. WANT ALL THAT SOLD BEFORE YOU LEAVE!",
  70. after  helping the bloke off the floor
  71. and  asking  a  few questions.  It had
  72. turned  out  that there were no "tabs"
  73. available  in Plymouth for this night,
  74. but  he  had some left over from a few
  75. days  ago.  The bloke who had beat the
  76. fuck  out  of  him was one of the main
  77. dealers   who   had   come  down  from
  78. Manchester  to  deal big-time shit, or
  79. so he lead me to believe.

  81. It is now not unknown for the bouncers
  82. of  a  club  to  be  in  with the drug
  83. dealing as well.  With flat fees paid,
  84. or  a  percentage  of  the drugs sold,
  85. which  is  usually  paid  to  the head
  86. doorman.   They will then turn a blind
  87. eye  to  the  dealer who has "paid his
  88. way",  so  to  say, and also throw out
  89. anyone  they  may suspected of dealing
  90. in  their club.  The above quote was a
  91. revenge  attack on a club that threw a
  92. "main"  dealer  out  of their club the
  93. night   before   the   incident.   The
  94. police,  although they try their best,
  95. now  accept  that drug use in clubs is
  96. effectively  unstoppable.   It  is the
  97. rapid growth of the drugs industry and
  98. the  movement  from  softer drugs like
  99. LSD  to  the  harder,  more  addictive
  100. drugs like Cocaine that will hopefully
  101. make people see sense.
