  5. This  article  will  take you through
  6. the  steps  of  writing your very own
  7. two-  column  articles just like this
  8. one.
  9.  
  10. You could type your file normally and
  11. then  use  the  NEW AZ TESTER util on
  12. Supp  Disk  5  to  convert it to this
  13. type  of  file or just load this file
  14. into your text editor to see how it's
  15. done.
  16.  
  17. AZ supports two types of articles and
  18. these  are normal (79) chars per line
  19. arts or these new (38) chars per line
  20. arts.
  21.  
  22. First  of  all  I must stress that no
  23. matter  which type of article you are
  24. gonna type, please DO NOT use the TAB
  25. @4
  26.

  29. It  causes too many hassles and AZ is
  30. not compatible with those files !!!
  31.  
  32.  
  33. If you are gonna be typing the normal
  34. type of article and want to add the 6
  35. spaces  to  the  start  of each line,
  36. then  either do it by hand or use the
  37. new  AZ  Tester as found on Supp Disk
  38. #5.
  39.

  41. The  AZ  Tester  can  also be used to
  42. convert normal arts to these new two-
  43. column  arts  easily.    If you don't
  44. have  Supp  Disk  #5,  order  it from
  45. Steve now.
  46.  
  47. Right,  let's  take  a look at how to
  48. create your articles now:
  49. @4Amoszine now allows Split-Screen text
  50. articles as well as normal text arts.
  51.  
  52. Furthermore,  up to seven colours can
  53. now   be   used   for  each  article.
  54. Colour    7    being   reserved   for
  55. @7FLASHING TEXT !@4
  56.  
  57. If  you  are thinking of contributing
  58. an  article  for  future issues of AZ
  59. then here's what you will need to do:
  60.  
  61. First  of  all  you must decide which
  62. type  of  article you want to create.
  63.  
  64. @1 ie.    Split Screen - Same as this
  65. file. Normal Type  - See other files.

  68. I  will  deal  with  the Split-Screen
  69. type of file first of all as we think
  70. it  is now gonna be very popular with
  71. AZ !
  72.  
  73. @4The very first thing that you need to
  74. type  is @7<@7> @4as this will allow the AZ
  75. code  to set it's default text reader
  76. to use the new Split-Screen option.
  77.

  79. If you want a heading at the top of
  80. the page, you must type @7{ @4followed by
  81. your  heading.    (This will be auto-
  82. centred for you).
  83.

  85. You  may also like to add a title for
  86. the  name  of  the  author  (you) !!!
  87. To  do  this you simply type @7} @4before
  88. the    text.      (This   will   be
  89. auto-centred)
  90.  
  91.  
  92. Always  leave  a  blank  line between
  93. your  headings  as  it will be needed
  94. for our new font sizes.    AZ may use
  95. a  different font in future issues so
  96. let's  keep  it  compatible  dudes  !
  97. @4Now you need to type up all your text
  98.  
  99. Please  note  that  no  more  than 38
  100. chars  should  be  typed per line !!!
  101. That  does  not  include  the  colour
  102. codes,  which  we  shall come to in a
  103. minute or two.
  104.  
  105. The  best  thing  to  do is load this
  106. file into your favourite text editor.
  107. You  should  be  able  to  follow the
  108. format   as   it's   pretty  straight
  109. forward
  110.  
  111. (This  file  is no longer crunched so
  112. you  shouldn't have any problems when
  113. loading  it  into  your  text editor.
  114. It  can  be found in the ARTS Dir and
  115. named @3AZ_WRITING.ORIGINAL@4)

  117. OK  let's  take  a rundown of how you
  118. can create the coloured text for your
  119. own articles.
  120.  
  121. 7 colours can be used and these are :
  122.  
  123. @1White  @2Red @3Yellow @4Green @5Cyan @6Blue @4and
  124. of course @7Purple @4(flashing)
  125.  
  126. This  could be mainly used to show up
  127. some important text - well ?!?
  128.  
  129. To  add  any  of the above colours to
  130. your  text,  just put the @7@ @4character
  131. followed by a number from @71 @4to @747@4.
  132.  
  133.  
  134.   eg. @1@@11 Would give White text.
  135.       @5@@55 Would give Cyan text.

  138. As  mentioned  before,  only  type  a
  139. maximum of 38 chars per line.    Then
  140. you  can add in all your colour codes
  141. later  (Only  up  to 79 chars on each
  142. line).

  151. when  this  file  is  viewed via your
  152. text  editor.     If  you  are  still
  153. confused,  just type up a normal text
  154. file and send it to the AZ editor and
  155. he'll  do  all  the hard work for you
  156. !!!

  158. Oh  yeah,  I nearly forgot to mention
  159. that  only  24  lines  of text can be
  160. shown on each screen.    If your text
  161. editor  is  any  good, then it should
  162. tell you what line you are on anyway.

  164. Use  the new AZ ARTICLE TESTER to see
  165. how your articles look before posting
  166. them  off  to  us.     (It would also
  167. help  us  if  you  could  spell check
  168. them)
  169. @2Now let's  deal with normal articles:
  170. @4
  171. Basically  they  are formatted in the
  172. exact  same  way as split-screen type
  173. except  you  musn't  type  @7<@7>  @4at the
  174. start and each line must be no longer
  175. than 79 chars.    (That also includes
  176. the colour codes !!!)
  177.  
  178. So   be  careful  if  you  want  your
  179. article to be neat and tidy !
  180.  
  181. If  you  do  manage to type more than
  182. the 79 character limit, not only will
  183. your  article  be a little bit messy,
  184. but it won't print out as a neat file
  185. either!

  188. Again, only 24 lines per page will be
  189. shown,  so try and remember that when
  190. you are typing away.
  191.

  193. @4Normal  type articles can now use the
  194. new   headings  for  both  Title  and
  195. Author as with split screen articles.
  196. That's a new bonus for AZ also.
  197. @4The  heading  for  both the Title and
  198. the  Author  are  both displayed atop
  199. each  page,  so it doesn't have to be
  200. just the first page of your article.

  202. Each  page  (24 lines) can now have a
  203. new   title   and  author  heading  !
  204. These  will  be  auto-centred for you
  205. also.

  207. That's  basically it I suppose.    If
  208. you  still  find all that too much to
  209. take  in,  then  please  just  type a
  210. normal article and send it to us.
