- GOT overflow has occured if you receive messages from the linker
- saying GGPP--rreellaattiivvee sseeccttiioonnss oovveerrffllooww bbyy 00xx?????? bbyytteess, GGOOTT oovveerrffllooww, or
- GGOOTT uunnrreeaacchhaabbllee.
-
- In releases prior to MIPS 7.3, this man page, ggpp__oovveerrffllooww(5),
- described the underlying causes of and possible solutions for overflow
- in the GP-relative area in the linker. Changes made to the linker for
- the MIPS 7.3 release should make overflow errors occur much less
- frequently.
-
- Most of the information that had been included on this man page has
- been rendered irrelevant by MIPS 7.3 software changes. For unusual
- and extreme cases in which overflow occurs, see the ddssoo(5) man page.
- Specifically, overflow is addressed in question 22, _W_h_a_t _s_h_o_u_l_d _I _d_o
- _a_b_o_u_t _G_l_o_b_a_l _O_f_f_s_e_t _T_a_b_l_e (_G_O_T) _o_v_e_r_f_l_o_w?.

- This man page will be removed in a future MIPS release.
