This section lists the subsystems (and their sizes) of the
InfoSearch software.
You can use the software installation instructions in the
PPPPeeeerrrrssssoooonnnnaaaallll SSSSyyyysssstttteeeemmmm AAAAddddmmmmiiiinnnniiiissssttttrrrraaaattttiiiioooonnnn GGGGuuuuiiiiddddeeee or the IIIIRRRRIIIIXXXX AAAAddddmmmmiiiinnnn::::

If you are installing this software for the first time, the
default subsystems are installed if you click the _I_n_s_t_a_l_l

subsystems, click the _C_u_s_t_o_m_i_z_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n button and make
your new selections. Then click the _S_t_a_r_t button to launch
the installation.

local system will be added to the index. This will occur at
system reboot time.
2.3 _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__M_e_t_h_o_d
All of the subsystems for InfoSearch can be installed using
IRIX. You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the

2.4 _P_r_e_r_e_q_u_i_s_i_t_e_s
Your workstation must be running IRIX 6.5.17 or greater in
order to use this release of InfoSearch.
The infosearch.index subsystems require that the

_s_g_s_e_a_r_c_h._s_w._b_a_s_e and _i_n_s_i_g_h_t__b_a_s_e._s_w._e_o_e subsystems are
installed.
As of release 3.x and beyond, infosearch.sw.eoe no longer
requires that webviewer.sw.eoe and websupport_eoe.sw.lib are
installed.
As of release 4.0 and beyond, infosearch.sw.server no longer
requires that dynaweb.sw.eoe is installed.
Searching localized (non-English) books (available with
release 4.1 and beyond) requires installing the
_i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h._s_w._l_1_0_n subsystem; along with any
_W_o_r_l_d_V_i_e_w*._i_n_d_e_x._b_o_o_k_s subsystem(s) for the localized
content (books) you have installed.
2.5 _C_o_m_p_a_t_i_b_i_l_i_t_y
InfoSearch is compatible with all supported forms of SGI
documentation. Using a version 1.x InfoSearch client
application to access InfoSearch content from an InfoSearch
server that has been updated to version 2.x is _n_o_t
_s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n(1) is the utility program used to keep your
InfoSearch database(s) in sync. In other words, what is

installed on your system should match what is indexed and
referenced by InfoSearch. The program _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n performs
that function and can be run from the command line (as
root). See the _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n(1) man page for details.
When your machine is rebooted, _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n is run
automatically. It checks to verify if new content has been
installed and updates your InfoSearch database(s) in the
background (running in the process queue under a very low
priority; started from within /etc/init.d/configmsg).

Non-English language books can be searched, browsed and
viewed using InfoSearch (release 4.1 and beyond). You can do
so by invoking InfoSearch and clicking one of the non-
English "Books" categories, if available. This will take you
to a language-specific search capability. From there, you
can continue to browse the information, or perform a
language-specific search within that specific non-English
category of "Books". This capability is only available if
you have localized books installed on your system (installed
from the various _W_o_r_l_d_V_i_e_w subsystems).
Searching localized (non-English) books also requires
installing the _i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h._s_w._l_1_0_n subsystem; along with any
_W_o_r_l_d_V_i_e_w*._i_n_d_e_x._b_o_o_k_s subsystem(s) for the localized
content (books) you have installed.
