  46.        This section lists the subsystems (and their sizes) of the
  47.        InfoSearch software.

  49.        You can use the software installation instructions in the
  50.        _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e to install this product.
  51.        If you are installing this software for the first time, the
  52.        default subsystems are installed if you click the _I_n_s_t_a_l_l
  53.        _A_u_t_o_m_a_t_i_c_a_l_l_y button.  To install a different set of
  54.        subsystems, click the _C_u_s_t_o_m_i_z_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n button and make
  55.        your new selections.  Then click the _S_t_a_r_t button to launch

  102.        All of the subsystems for InfoSearch can be installed using
  103.        IRIX.  You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the
  104.        _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for complete installation
  105.        instructions.

  110.        Your workstation must be running IRIX 6.5 or greater in
  111.        order to use this release of InfoSearch.

  113.        The infosearch.index subsystems require that the
  114.        sgsearch.sw.base subsystem is installed.

  116.        infosearch.sw.eoe requires that webviewer.sw.eoe and
  117.        websupport_eoe.sw.lib are installed.

  120.        requires that dynaweb.sw.eoe be installed.

  137.        InfoSearch is compatible with all supported forms of SGI
  138.        documentation.  Using a version 1.x InfoSearch client
  139.        application to access InfoSearch content from an InfoSearch
  140.        server that has been updated to version 2.x is _n_o_t

  158.        into what InfoSearch believes to be your HTTP (web) server's

  203.        To create an InfoSearch server, install all the books, help
  204.        books, man pages and relnotes on the machine you wish to be
  205.        the server. To install all the documentation, follow this
  206.        procedure in inst(1M), for each CD:

  226.        accessed via a web browser such as _n_e_t_s_c_a_p_e(1) (preferred
  227.        method) or via the InfoSearch client. Use the URL
  228.        http://<hostname>/infosearch/ where <hostname> is the name
  229.        of the server. To access the server from the InfoSearch
  230.        client, use the same designation, or simply the server name.

  232.        If the indexes become damaged, they can be rebuilt from
  233.        scratch using the following command:

  239.        _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n(1) is the utility program used to keep your
  240.        InfoSearch database(s) in sync. In other words, what is
  241.        installed on your system should match what is indexed and
  242.        referenced by the InfoSearch database(s).  The program
  243.        _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n performs that function and can be run from the
  244.        command line, as root. See the _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n(1) man page for
  245.        details.

  247.        When your machine is rebooted, _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n is run
  248.        automatically.  It checks to verify if new content has been
  249.        installed and updates your InfoSearch database(s) in the
  250.        background (running in the process queue under a very low
  251.        priority).

  267.        Note:  If you have installed or removed additional/optional
  268.               products that included documentation (man pages,
  269.               release notes or online books) and your machine has
  270.               not been rebooted, you may need to run _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n
  271.               from the shell to put your InfoSearch database(s) in
  272.               sync with the content recently installed or removed
  273.               from your disk.

  275.        InfoSearch attempts to make an educated guess at when
  276.        content may have been installed. It does a quick check of
  277.        the _i_n_s_t(1M) history file (/var/inst/hist) and compares it's
  278.        system modification date to the system modification date of
  279.        the InfoSearch index file(s). If the index files' date is
  280.        less than that of the _i_n_s_t(1M) history file, a warning
  281.        message will be printed on the main InfoSearch page when the
  282.        interface is invoked/accessed. This warning appears below
  283.        the search text field, and acts as a friendly reminder to
  284.        the administrator that _s_g_i_n_d_e_x_A_d_m_i_n may need to be run. An

  306.        InfoSearch utilizes server-side parsed HTML (.shtml) files
  307.        upon startup. If your HTTP (web) server is not configured
  308.        properly to handle these types of files, you may see the
  309.        following error in the InfoSearch client application (or
  310.        your web browser):
