Under normal circumstances, you do not have to modify either of these sets of files. You may configure your colors by using the scheme browser in the toolchest to preview and specify your scheme choice. If you have recently upgraded to Irix 5.3 or later, you will want to remove the "*scheme: <name>" entry in your .Xdefaults file (if you had one) prior to using the scheme browser. Please refer to ////uuuussssrrrr////lllliiiibbbb////XXXX11111111////sssscccchhhheeeemmmmeeeessss////RRRREEEEAAAADDDDMMMMEEEE____CCCCaaaasssseeee for more information on changing schemes. 2.6.2 _W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p__T_e_s_t_e_r WorkShop Tester is configured with a default instrumentation file (located in /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p/_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p/_T_e_s_t_e_r/_d_e_f_a_u_l_t__i_n_s_t_r__f_i_l_e). This is used to set up default criteria for instrumenting your program for test coverage counting and tracing. Under normal circumstances, you do not have to modify this file. 2.7 _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_i_n_g__W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p__o_n__a__D_i_f_f_e_r_e_n_t__D_i_s_k__o_r__o_n__a__S_e_r_v_e_r Because WorkShop is rather large and space under /_u_s_r is usually tight, WorkShop uses an installation architecture that makes it easy to relocate the bulk of the installed files to directories that have extra space. All the WorkShop files (except the man pages, the demos, and the books) are installed under the directory /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p, then - 6 - those files are linked back to the appropriate spots under /_u_s_r. Therefore if you do not have enough disk space on /_u_s_r to install the tools, you can install them on an auxiliary disk and link them back to /_u_s_r automatically. Here is one example of appropriate commands for installing on a disk named /_d_i_s_k_3 from a locally mounted CDROM drive (execute as _r_o_o_t): - 7 - llllnnnn ----ssss ////ddddiiiisssskkkk3333////WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp ////uuuussssrrrr iiiinnnnsssstttt ----ffff ////CCCCDDDDRRRROOOOMMMM////ddddiiiisssstttt >>>>iiiinnnnssssttttaaaallllllll CCCCaaaasssseeeeVVVViiiissssiiiioooonnnn WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp >>>>ggggoooo These commands link the /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p directory to the /_d_i_s_k_3 disk, where there is enough space to hold the files. The files are then installed on /_d_i_s_k_3 and the _W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p._s_w._l_i_n_k_s subsystems install links pointing to those files from /_u_s_r. Please note that if you previously had had WorkShop installed, then a directory called /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p would have already existed and the above _l_n -_s command would produce a link called /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p. Since this is undesireable, you should first uninstall all WorkShop images, then _r_m -_r_f /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p to remove any leftover files before executing the _l_n -_s command. In another example, if you want to install WorkShop on a file server and have users mount the software from there, first install the software on the server as usual: iiiinnnnsssstttt ----ffff ////CCCCDDDDRRRROOOOMMMM////ddddiiiisssstttt Next mount the server machine's files from _s_e_r_v_e_r:/_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p on the user's machine as /_u_s_r/_W_o_r_k_S_h_o_p. Then, on the client machine, install the CaseVision image, the WorkShop links subsystems, and optionally, the demos, man pages and books subsystem: iiiinnnnsssstttt ----ffff ////CCCCDDDDRRRROOOOMMMM////ddddiiiisssstttt >>>>kkkkeeeeeeeepppp WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp >>>>iiiinnnnssssttttaaaallllllll WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp....sssswwww....lllliiiinnnnkkkkssss >>>>iiiinnnnssssttttaaaallllllll WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp....sssswwww....ddddeeeemmmmoooossss >>>>iiiinnnnssssttttaaaallllllll WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp....mmmmaaaannnn....ppppaaaaggggeeeessss >>>>iiiinnnnssssttttaaaallllllll WWWWoooorrrrkkkkSSSShhhhoooopppp....bbbbooooooookkkkssss >>>>ggggoooo 2.8 _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_i_n_g__t_h_e__P_r_o_D_e_v__O_n_-_l_i_n_e__T_u_t_o_r_i_a_l The on-line interactive tutorial can be installed on the system or executed from the CD.
