Transcription: A fire extinguisher was developed in 1816 by an Englishman, Captain George Manby. It operated with the use of compressed air. It was not long before chemical-based extinguishers came into use due to their higher efficiency. All industrial and commercial buildings of today must contain fire extinguishers under the law of safety regulations. Different types of fire require different types of extinguisher. The basic water extinguisher has now been joined by the CO2 and Halon extinguishers to name but two.
