Transcription: Hydroelectric power is common in Norway and Switzerland where the mountainous landscape and numerous lakes are ideal for constructing water-powered turbines. The power station itself is built at a lower level than the water reservoir so that when the gate is opened, the water rushes through the inlet causing enough pressure to turn the turbine. This is very cost effective as water is returned to the upper reservoir by nature's simple process of evaporation and rainfall.
