Transcription: Some of the earliest mechanical lawn mowers were produced in the 1830s by Edward Budding, who designed them, and his colleague, Ferriby, who manufactured them. Earlier lawn mowers on large country estates had been horse-drawn. The 1920s and 30s saw an increase in powered mowers using the drum system. And in the mid-50s, Mr. Hayter of Harlow in Essex introduced the first rotor mower. a machine which was literally to revolutionize grass cutting and resulted in a vast selection of electric and petrol driven mowers produced by Black & Decker, Ransoms, Flymo and numerous other companies.
