\b0 Installing a remote printer requires some entries in your NetInfo database. You can use the NetInfo Manager for entering the necessary information, but you will find it more convenient to use the RemotePrinter installation program.\
This application lets you create two different types of remote printers. The first is
\i Remote LPR
\i0 allowing you to install standard UNIX TCP/IP printers. Alternatively you can create a printer entry for the
\i TFTP Spooler (RIP)
\i0 which enables you to transfer data to a printer (or imagesetter) using the TFTP program. When creating the later an improved version of TFTP will be installed automatically if necessary. \
\b How to install a remote printer\
\b0\fi-260\li260 After starting the RemotePrinter installation program follow these\
steps:\
1. Enter a name for your printer in the entry field <

\i Name>
\i0 . This name should not contain any special characters (
% etc.) or blanks. Valid characters are small and capital letters, numbers and the underscore. Examples for valid names are

\i0 > is supplied to enter any comments concerning the printer, e.g.

\i0 > requires the name or the IP-address of the computer to which the remote printer is connected.\
4. Several printers can be connected to the remote host, therefore you have to enter the name that is assigned your remote printer on the remote host in the field <
\i Remote Printer
\i0 >. This enables the remote host to select the correct printer for the print jobs.\
5. The option <
\i _nxfinalform>
\i0 should generally be enabled.\
6. Select an appropriate entry from the <
\i Printer Type>
\i0 list. The entries in this list are based on the PPD-files available on your system.\
7. Finally, click the <
\i Create Printer
\i0 > command and all necessary settings will be made on your system.\

\ulnone Usually, the new printer entry is immediately available. If not, rebooting the system should correct this.\
