  12. I only have one mod I want to make to executor.exe before I think it's
  13. ready to go on Executor 2: I want to detect when people are using the
  14. version of MSCDEX that is built into Windows '95 and issue a warning
  15. that they won't be able to access Mac formatted CD-ROMs until they
  16. start running the older version of MSCDEX.

  18. Beyond that I have about 50 pieces of email to comb, looking for
  19. showstoppers.  If I don't find any, the next step will be to do a
  20. number of (relatively trivial) mods to the CD-ROM layout, then burn a
  21. dozen or so test copies of what should be the Executor 2 CD-ROM.  If
  22. they are OK, we'll then burn 5,000 copies.

  24. We still have some artwork to clean up and some manual issues to work
  25. on, but we're getting there.

  27. In the meantime, Mat is working furiously on VCPU, which will make
  28. Executor faster and also allow us to run PPC code (which will also
  29. make us more attractive to Apple).  Melissa is working on the new web
  30. version of our compatibility database and in addition to finishing up
  31. E2, I'm also talking with our local bank about a loan so we can put
  32. some ads in the major magazines for E2's release.

  34. Cotton and Bill Goldman are on hiatus until after E2 is shipping and
  35. we're bringing in some decent money.  We have a handful of other
  36. amazingly talented engineers that we can bring on board, but again, we
  37. can't do it until we have a little cash.

  39. I was out to see Apple a couple weeks ago and it's clear that there's
  40. room for cooperation, although Apple is so large it will take a long
  41. time before we can wind up talking to exactly the right people and cut
  42. exactly the right deal, but I'm hoping we can license System 7.5
  43. fairly soon after E2 is shipping.  They might even help us find some
  44. intermediate funding, so we don't have to bootstrap ourselves.
